After evaluating information, selected sources that meet the criteria can be integrated into one's existing knowledge base. This involves synthesizing and assimilating the information into one's understanding of the topic. 5. Use information effectively to accomplish a specific purpose. Information literacy extends beyond mere acquisition to practical application. It involves using the gathered information to solve problems, make informed decisions, or achieve specific goals effectively. 6. Understand the economic, legal, and social issues surrounding the use of information. It's essential to recognize the broader context in which information is produced, disseminated, and used. This includes understanding issues related to copyright, intellectual property rights, privacy, and access to information. 7. Access and use information ethically and legally. Information literacy also entails adhering to ethical standards and legal requirements when accessing, using, and sharing information. This involves respecting intellectual property rights, citing sources properly, and avoiding plagiarism.
