Hello Q! So, today I was at my drum box and I started to learn your phrases, at first I thought to "write down" the phrases on a paper at home... I'm glad I didn't do It because it's an amazing work to do it by ear! Btw, I'm digging hard your Single Stroke Pyramid. Right now I have fluidly all the feet patterns but the 11 and the 9. Those two are a nightmare for the brain!!! But I will achieve it soon :) AND I HAVE TO SAY: It changed my playing, I really know a lot better where I'm I when doing some groupings and I'm also integrating new groupings on my "open comping" and on my soloing. Thank you, you gave me a path to follow and a methodology for my work. (AND you made me undust the Guiliana book with your Flow Exercice, I'm doing it along with the metronome exercices you gave). Have a nice day! PS: Please let me know if any time soon you are willing to do the "send me a video and I will write a comment about it" as you did before on your website! Edit: Today I played all the 22 three times (without any help, only my brain). Ascending, descending and with a random order with a n° generator app. I can say that I'm doing a huge progression thanks to you! Thank you as always 🙏

I like your jazz sound, it's a lot of drummers talking about drums set jazz tunings, but you really sound jazz, I love it. How do you tune your toms, do you use a tune bolt, what's the frequency on each tom if you do. What covers do you use, brand name sizes and plies?
@drumqtips3 жыл бұрын
Hey Robert. Thanks for watching. I simply to my drums until they sound good honestly. Sometimes I like to hear them a little higher pitched, and other times I like to hear them a bit lower pitched for more resonance. Depends on the music and the band I’m playing with. You can have a look at the description box for the equipment I use. Cheers!

Such a nice lesson as always... Can I ask, what's the best way to pracrice and apply new material at the gig. Is it quantity (such a as studying drum books from back to back), or quality (for example picking a couple of these phrases and internalize them till you are able to pull them out any time you want)... Or a combination of both?... Really appreciate your feedback on this... Thx so much
@drumqtips3 жыл бұрын
For me, quality always trumps quantity. Take your time with everything that you were learning to allow it those things to really sink in so that you can actually use them in a natural way. Move at a pace that makes sense to you to ensure that you are retaining the information rather than just playing through it. That pace is going to vary from person to person. Have fun!
