Total respect gents. Another great listen. I am sure the Channel 4 program is far removed from not only your day but also the regiment as it is today. I do also relate to the change in kit over the years, as a Rhodesian soldier in the mid to late 70’s where we introduced the world to zip up jacket and chest webbing and combat shorts 😂😂😂. I am sure Peter will remember that in his C Sqd days?

Hi Rusty enjoying the interviews with you and Peter you both work well together. On separate note I’ve just finished reading my signed copy of your book the regiment, I found it to be a great insight into your life and how you coped with whatever life threw at you from a young boy of 15 years to now thank you for your service honesty and modesty 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Regards Les.

Hello Rusty, hello Pete. Another great video. Thanks again for sharing the past with us. I would of loved these videos when i was a boy . When i was eight, there was a series on the b.b.c "THE PARAS" for me it was fantastic. I think was broadcast on the thursday, saturday me and my "company" used to try and reanact what we'd watch in the week. Quite often we'd walk around the feilds, pretending we was on the basic wales. Going to press gang more subscribers for you both👍👍👍👍

I love Peter he's brilliant to listen to. I already own his book but will buy it again if it helps him get more recognition, deservedly. Would also say that with regards to that terrible programme on C4 that all that shouting is based upon them probably thinking that these guys (celebs/plebs) have never even so much as done a BFT so need that kind of beasting about, whereas when you go into the Regiment all that basic shit has already been sorted out. Im imagining that that maybe the thought process and why there is so much swearing and shouting?? As you both have said though I haven't heard one person who went through selection, or tried ever say that the ds were constantly making life hell for you.

Nobody pushed you, they wanted to see you push yourself. The only person who could give up on you was yourself. Far better the man that tried and failed, than the man that never tried at all. Platform 4 was available 24/7. To be honest, I don't think it's changed for the better !. But, that's my personal opinion.
