My uncle was an outfitter in the Rockies in Alberta, I went hunting with him, remember his native guides. They were sincere about their warning of the ,”Wild Man, and don’t whistle at night. Stories are very good, very special , good to remember, I don’t know why more people don’t listen to the natives , show them the respect and learn something

I grew up in the Texas outdoors and live where the terrain is hilly with thick draws, rock outcroppings and rocky creeks. Woodsy and brushy. One morning a few deer seasons ago walking to my deer stand in the pitch dark moving with zero sound because it had rained and the ground was soft. No flashlight out because i knew well where i was on the little jeep rd on the small 80 acre patch of brush i hunt on. The brush comes up tight where basically only a small vehicle can squeak thru. As i slipped along along silently in the darkness i woke something big up. Maybe 3 or 4 ft in the brush to my left something with huge lung capacity gave a disgusted grunt as i startled it from its sleep. Then immediately growled low and deep like a grizzly or something. This is a brand new encounter for me in the woods. I took 3 steps back and had a round chambered in my 3030 instantly and stood stock still and quiet and waited for whatever it was to make its move. It was fight or flight for me and my first reaction was to fight. This was no bobcat, coyote, we dont have bears, we do have cougars rarely but no. Not a 100 lb cat. Something with the vocal girth of a bull or big bear. Anyway as i waited for it happen it did not come at me. It growled again but thank God this time it sounded like it was now 10 ft away. Then growled again this time 20 ft away and so on. Growled until it was out of earshot. Then i went ahead and made it to my stand flashlight OUT and ON and hunted the morning hunt because although I was a bit shook up i really don't know what was there but it wasn't ghostly. Some kind of animal was spittin distance i heard it get up right beside me. I still hunt there but the relax mode is gone for me now.

Fred - that's one hell of a story. I have heard other stories of game staying close to people out of fear of something else like hairy man. If I were any of those hunters, I would not hunt anywhere that I had to fly in and be sure that I had a way to get out of the area. Thanks for telling is great and honest stories from those that lived them!

Moose will absolutely eff u up so if the bull isn't concentrated on u, I'd be terrified of what it's paying attention to lol. Seems the bull was attempting to use human presence as a shield like other animals have learned to do. That whole body shake is so relatable. It's like ur brain and body subconsciously know what and who these creatures r immediatley even if u consciously don't. I bet that was the longest 3 hours ever mentally and physically before that bull showed back up. Imagine what the bull saw when it initially ran off. If only they could use words. I can't even imagine the heart drop he felt when he realized those weren't the other hunters he was headed towards, it gives me chills. It's gotta be pretty bad when a rutting bull's presence becomes a comfort. Thank goodness they found sign and saw the thing again so they didn't think he was crazy and thieving. Such a stressful encounter for that guy.

Thank you, Fred, for sharing another instance of someone being socked in with HM in the vicinity. Do you think the HM had any inkling he was about? Must have, one of them was snooping inside the tent. What he endured was absolutely terrifying imo. Just imagining hearing that hideous Samara language in the fog gives me chills…ewww! Damn orcs. Then, he has to wait while these other hunters get transported out! MG, that’s enough to make a person lose it. I feel sorry for the poor moose who was stuck there. It’s weird how wild creatures sometimes lose their innate distrust of humans when the HM are around. My theory is that animals know both of us, human and animal, are natural to this planet, and those other things are not natural. They may have lived here forever, but don’t belong here and basically, they’re evil af. Going with my gut on this, and I trust what you and the rest of the People say. None of “us” in the lower 48 are feeding them & sure as heck not trying to be their friend. Thanks again for all you do. Best of everything to your friend who shared his adventure. God Bless you both.
