In this video we have depicted our journey to Virangana Lakshmibaee Jhansi Junction (VGLB) from Kolkata (KOAA) railway station 2 days before Holi (as our Holi trip) by 22197 Pratham Swatantrata Express train.
In 2023, this train ran for the 1st time to Jhansi.
The train started running since 2018. Initially it used to run from Barrakpore railway station to Jhansi. As the 1st movement for Independence of India was started at Barrakpore by Mangal Pandey and also at Jhansi by Jhansi ki Rani Lakshmibaee, the train was named as Pratham Swatantrata Express and also used to ply in between Barrakpore and Jhansi. Later on, the departing point from Kolkata had been changed to Kolkata railway station which is one of the main terminal railway stations in Kolkata.
This train is a weekly train which runs every Sunday from Kolkata, departs at 7:25 am. Now, it doesn't not have stoppage at Barrakpore even though it touches the station. After departing from Kolkata, it stops next at Naihati Jn. Later, it crosses the Hoogly River by Sampreeti Bridge (Jubilees Bridge is now abandoned) and reaches the other side of Hoogly near Bandel Jn. Next day moring, the train reaches Jhansi at 7:20 am after stopping on stations like Barddhaman Jn., Asansol Jn., Chittaranjan, Jasidih Jn., Jhajha, Patna Jn., Din Dayalu Upadhyay Jn. (Mughalsaray), Prayagraj Jn. (Allahabad), Govindpura Jn., Orai etc.
