I've recently found the game Eurotruck Simulator 2 to be a good car test alternative. It occupies your mind in the same way driving does and has simulated road and engine noise that obscures the mix. The benefit is that you can pause the game to take notes when you notice something sounds off rather than trying to remember it all!
