The 228 Memorial Peace Park in Taipei commemorates the victims of the February 28 Incident (228 Incident) of 1947, when an anti-government uprising in Taiwan was violently suppressed by the Kuomintang. The park, established in 1900 during the Japanese colonial period, was renamed and dedicated to this tragic event in 1996. It features monuments, sculptures, and a museum to honor the memory of those affected and to promote peace and reconciliation.
