Robert, I think you can adjust the backlash on most rotary tables. I forget how to do it but it’s an adjustment feature for that purpose.

I think it is the eccentric cam that allows the table to free wheel, but I think the gears on this Shars rotary table that I bought 7 years ago are not the greatest at meshing. I have ordered a Yuasa one for future projects.
