First, I know I say "Taurus" funny; it's my good ole Tennessee dialect that loves to mispronounce words. Don't hate on me for that 🙂. Also, I failed to mention the price of the pistol: MSRP is $349. Real world price on this handgun is around $310. Sorry, I forgot to mention that.

I've been looking to down-grade from 9mm since I have some shoulder injuries and a surgical repair that didn't work, and 9mm and higher just tears me up after a day at the range. I've been actively shopping 22s lately, and this could be the one. Thanks. I love when people laugh at people who choose smaller bore rounds as a waste of time or as ineffective, or as "girl guns". My answer is always the same... "Cool, can I shoot you with my 22?" So far, no one has said yes, so I guess they don't suck as much as people say.
@scotteger62714 жыл бұрын
I agree with you Chris but would say also consider .380acp as an option. If you get a decent size handgun there will be minimal recoil and a lot of the 380's on the market today are a lot easier to rack the slide than 9mm. A couple of suggestions I would make would be the S&W 380EZ, new Walther CCP M2 in 380, as well as SCCY CPX 3 or 4 and look for them to make their new DVG 1 in 380 soon I'm sure. I would also recommend a revolver that is capable of shooting 327 federal magnum, as you could then shoot 32 short, 32 long, 32 h&r and 32 acp. Also a revolver has no slide to rack. Nothing against 22lr and I don't want shot by it, just ammo finicky at times and not great against heavy clothing layers or other obstacles. Good luck with your shoulder issues hope they can be fixed for you.

gymkhanadog That isn't bad, for a .22 rimfire round that isn't even designed for auto loaders. Every other cartridge that's designed for an auto loader, is RIMLESS. There's a reason for that... I just got back home from shooting my .223 Savage bolt rifle, and my little Phoenix Arms HP22. I had replaced the extractor on my Phoenix, and I wanted to see if it was fixed. It ran great! I had my .223 sighted dead on at 200 yards, the last time that I was out playing with it. Well, today it was so windy, that it was hitting 4" to the right. Probably 35 mph wind bursts. Not a good day to be shooting a rifle. I had to get out and shoot tho, because it had rained here for the last 4 days. Ahhhhh..... I feel better now. I bought one of these pistols and was so excited. Took it to the range and it ate everything I fed it. At 250 rounds it started to key hole. The barrel was so caked with lead that when I tried to clean it my cleaning rod got stuck inside and then when I pulled it out the tip remained stuck in the barrel. Sent it back. After a quick search I see that this issue with barrels is common. It ran like a champ and turns out I am the chump.

@Bkellyusa5 жыл бұрын
To the Taurus critics I don't understand why anyone would still be condemning Taurus when they are currently manufacturing quality guns at generally speaking very reasonable prices. It's to every shooters benefit that there are more high quality firearms available at this price point. As it is I have never owned a Taurus pistol and still haven't purchased one but the G2C has really gotten my attention. You've got to spend a whole helluva lot more money to get an arguably better 9mm automatic. The G2C has impressed me so much I plan to buy one soon even though I don't need another 9mm. Now, with the release of the TH9 and this new TX22 it is obvious that Taurus is on a roll and deserves support. The only people who I might forgive are those who have, in the past, purchased a Taurus gun and had problems with it. I had the same issue with a S&W Shield 9mm. I learned to really hate that gun and traded it for a Walther. Despite that I don't go around condemning Smith & Wesson as a manufacturer. What I have always liked about Taurus pistols is that they are always doing very innovative things with their weapons and, now, with their quality on the rise I welcome them and congratulate them for the success they are having. I hope they keep going in this direction. My only complaint is that their customer service is still rumored to be awful. I hope that they address that soon.
@jamiesloan59025 жыл бұрын
Bkellyusa Customer service is very slow. I sent a TCP .380 to them one time, and didn't get it back for 4 months. They replaced the barrel, and the slide, and it ran great when I got it back, but 4 months is rediculous. I recently gave that gun to my mom, because all she had was a .38 ultra lite that hurt her hand when she shot it. I'm gonna take her out and train her with it, one day this week. I want her to feel confident carrying a weapon, and knowing she could use it, if she had to. Besides, I've got plenty of carry options, so I didn't really need it.

Bkellyusa which Walther did you get? I did research on the shield and ended up with the PPS M2. No regrets!!!
@Bkellyusa5 жыл бұрын
@@grumpysquid - I bought the Walther CCP M2. I love mine as well. The S&W Shield is really hard to rack for my wife and you cannot release the slide without using both hands. Add to that the Walther is significantly more accurate. Your PPS is generally considered a better weapon. The original CCP had some jamming issues and I think that has dampened the enthusiasm for the new M2 version which works flawlessly. I chose it over the PPS because the PPS does not have a thumb safety. I know there are many people who don't care for a thumb safety but I like to keep all my options open and, in the real world, if you don't like the safety you can easily just turn it off. The CCP M2 is my first Walther pistol and my experience so far has really awakened me to the brand. Now I'd like to get the PPQ Sc 9mm. We'll keep the CCP M2 and add that one sometime in the future. How come you chose the PPS.
@grumpysquid5 жыл бұрын
Bkellyusa you seem like a very reasonable and level headed guy 😬 PPS M2 compared to G43 and Shield because: out-of-the-box performance, best trigger, aftermarket not needed, best ergonomics for my hand, 6 to 8-rd mags available, and its uniqueness in looks, etc. Had it over a couple years and here are my nitpicks (based on MY needs, etc): mags are $40 a pop (but again this is not a big deal), some tiny rust spots forming on the metal mags, no +P ammo (per the manufacturer, not a big deal). Otherwise it has been a stellar gun, fun to shoot and the one which makes it to my hip most often.

Dang, yet another great review of this gun. I never thought i would consider a .22 hand gun but i want to actually shoot and i can always afford .22 ammo. The g2c is the real deal too. Taurus earned the crap rep yrs back, but i think they righted the ship the last coiple years.

Not a fan of quasi-negative reviews. I'm not sure when Taurus bashing became so popular, but it's become pervasive (emphasis on PERV) across the shooting forums. I've owned and own Taurus revolvers and pistols and never a problem with any, not that I EVER relied on what self-appointed experts "told me" to make a decision. I'm impressed to see the grudging, RELUCTANT praise for the Taurus - perhaps you need to throw it in a mud hole, give it a quick wipe down, so when it jams you can say, "THERE! I knew it was a poor design!"

I've had this gun for one day. I love it. I shot 300 rounds through it. Brand new, I had two failures to feed (I consider the first 100 rounds as a breakin period). No failures for the next 200 rounds (see item #4 for mag loading). I was in the market for a Kel-tec P17 but haven't been able to procure one for over a year now. I decided to pony up the extra dough for this pistol. I don't know why I was hung up over the extra $100. I can't compare it to the Kel-tec since I've never fired one but I was not disappointed in my purchase of the TX-22. I hadn't seen this video before I bought it. I only vaguely remember the G&A article on it 2 yrs ago. My first impressions. 1. This gun's accuracy is very good. 2. The grip on this gun feels just right, Tauras knocked it out of the park on that one. 3. The sights need tweeked to suit your preferences. The adjustable sight is good but not great in adjustment range. 4.There is a trick to easy loading of the mags. Pull the round "handles" only down far enough to load a few cartridges at a time (It does get hard to pull at the last 12-16 cartridges). When done slap the mag against your palm and the last few bullets get into proper alignment for feeding. BTW: Running CCI 1070 fps standard ammo through it the whole time.

I impulse bought this gun today. It is a blast to shoot. Pretty darn accurate in my hands and I am not even close to being a handgun master. Had a few mis feeds but all the misfeeds came with cheap ammo that’s been sitting in a box for literally 30 years. With the better ammo I bought, no misfeeds. I also put put close to 400 rounds through it between my son and I.

I have one that I’ve never used but I’m gonna try it out in a couple of days. I’ve always said I’ll only use it for protection only. I keep it near me at all times other than unauthorized areas/buildings/locations. Cop even stopped me ,put my clip in for me and sent me on my merry way lol. I’m gonna take it to the range for a little brushing up.

I had a ton of .22 ammo so I knew it was time to buy a handgun. I own a .22 revolver that I love, and I was not disappointed with the TX22. It's by no means a perfect gun, but it's great at the range and I've yet to experience any major issues. I've put well over 1000 rounds through it.

I've been wanting a 22LR gun for a long time, and since I work armed security, and have to renew my license annually, I bought this to practice with cheap ammo. Just bought mine for $270.00 and I love it. It's light, but feels great in the hand. I was a little worried about the magazine, the rounds at the bottom are very eschew when the magazine is fully loaded, but it seems to work just fine. I highly recommend this gun if you can find one.

Nothing wrong with the new Taurus models. I own several Taurus models the first was a PT709 Slim (now G2Cs), PT111 millennium (now G2C), G2C, 1911, Rossi RS22 rifle (owned by Taurus) and my EDC TCP 738 and all have been great. My next one is the TX22.

I enjoyed your video and honest review. I am retired and have been looking for a 22 semiautomatic pistol for target shooting and plinking. By the way I appreciate your honesty in all of your reviews.

Glad to see this is a hit for Taurus. I had a G2c for a while and it was less refined than other guns I have...a little rough around the edges...but functioned flawlessly everytime...even with 9mm shotshell! I looked at the new G3 and the trigger is far nicer than the G2...hopefully they make a G3c and G3s.

The problem with Taurus is there is a high chance that you get a complete dud that needs factory service out the box. Recently had a DOA revolver of all things.

I love your videos man... good review. Having worked in gun shops, i've seen way too many problems with Taurus pistols and revolvers. I know that 85% of them work okay. I'd like to see you do a 2000rd endurance test cleaning every 500 rounds before i bought one of these. Great review brother!!! GO VOLS

I’ve only owned a few Taurus’s. They have all been PT111 G2’s. They have been super reliable, and I daily carry mine most days I carry. My wife conceals hers in her purse daily. I have one of these on order through my FFL, and I cannot wait to range it out. Yeah, I know, it’s a Taurus, but for me, my experience has been nothing but fantastic. I’ve even got some friends to get themselves the G2 or G2C. Thanks for an honest review.

If Taurus can make a reliable striker fired 22lr pistol...they should have no problem making a 9mm or 45acp in a similar package!👍🇺🇸
@jamiesloan59025 жыл бұрын
Fresh Fowler They already do!!! My PT-111 is flawless! 12+1 capacity of 9mm, in a very small package. It's my EDC, because I've NEVER had a malfunction with it. I love Taurus firearms!!!! Actually, the worst two guns that I own, are Rugers(10/22, and LCR). Ruger will NEVER get another dime from me. Period. I also love my Taurus model 66 .357, 7 shot revolver.
@Bkellyusa5 жыл бұрын
Jamie Sloan is exactly right. Taurus already makes an outstanding 9mm. The latest version is the G2C (the last release of the gun Jamie Sloan has) is the gun you are looking for. I bought a S&W M&P Shield 9mm and a few weeks later looked at a G2C and had the worst case of buyers remorse I've ever had. I sold the S&W to buy the G2C but got distracted and bought a Walther CCP M2 due to it's easy racking abilities that my wife likes so much. I love the Walther but in truth I am not sure how much better, if at all, it is when compared to the Taurus G2C and it cost me twice as much. With the G2C's super nice ergonomics, it's 12 round magazine, decent trigger, it's noteworthy accuracy and so many other nice touches it has to be considered the no-brainer purchase in the under $450.00 9mm handguns. I like it so much I am going to buy one anyway even though I don't need another 9mm gun.

I've got a Taurus PT111 Millennium G2 made in 2017 and man, it's so far been completely reliable. Eats every ammo I've thrown at it. I only have 1000 rounds thru it but all without ba hiccup. Based on that I bought a TX22. Took it to the range for the first time yesterday. Great ergonomics. Nice trigger, accurate enough out to 35+ft for my plinking and training needs. Had one failure to feed in about 250 rounds. It's a nice gun. The 16 rounds mags are a blast. I love the form factor and do hope Taurus releases some big brothers to it. Only downside so far are the cheap mags as noted in the reveiw.
@jimk48645 жыл бұрын
@@SEAKPhotog same here. Wife and I have put > 1000 rounds through ours and except for a few limp wristed shots my wife did in training with it. it has been flawless. I stayed away from the non brass casings for the most part but had a box of 100 the last time out and it ate them easily. Good choice. I CCW it the most. Also, I have a RUger SR22 and the Hunter III but will be looking to add this tx-22 to my collection.

I see the new Taurus 22 as a good carry pistol.. Because of the 16 round capacity.
@EvilWiffles5 жыл бұрын
Only reason I don't recommend 22 for carry, capacity is just crapshoot and reliability. If only they can make a smaller version of this for carry.
@ILLEagle_15 жыл бұрын
EvilWiffles when are you ever going to need more than 5-6 rounds for self defense???? You don’t think single stack .45s, 9mms or revolvers hold enough to be a carry?
