23/06/2016 Time-lapse Narrowboat Trip on the Oxford Canal - Upper Heyford to Aynho.

A time-lapse Narrowboat trip on the Oxford canal. Starting near Heyford Common lock I head northwards to just past Aynho. On the way I pass through Heyford Common lock, Somerton lock (the deepest on the Oxford canal) and Aynho. For this trip I tried the camera in a different position as the front of my boat got quite badly flooded last time I went through Somerton Deep lock! Don't worry, the camera will be back in its usual place for the next video.

Watching your Vid.s make me what to get on a plane and try my hand at cruising on a narrowboat. With air fare and all the other cost to get from the western US, I'm sure it would be too costly for us. :(

Kirks Karaoke Unfortunately hiring a Narrowboat is really expensive. I'm not sure of the latest prices but it is in the region of £1000 - £3000 per week! Depends on the boat size and time of year etc.

Kryfold Sky I Know. The bigger cost is to get my wife and all the stuff we would need plus me all the way to the UK from Palm Springs, CA. :(

Thanks for your reply and now I know why your narrow boat is always nudging the gate wall in your videos. How do you keep your cats on your boat and not loose them and what is the name of your narrow boat?

Would you be going through the locks by yourself and if yes how do you manage it? Great video !

flossey100 Yes, I do all the locks by myself. My cats are not much help :) The locks are simple enough but can be very heavy and hard work. I leave the boat in forward gear so it more or less looks after itself as I work the lock.
