I purchased blossom and root as well as torchlight both kindergarten level to see which we liked best. Right now we are 3/4 of the way through blossom and root. It's not my favorite, but it's not terrible. I'm hoping we vibe better with Torchlight. We started with the good and the beautiful because it was recommended by a homeschooling friend, and while it is both good and beautiful I no longer want it to be our main curriculum. I purchased through second grade (so much for getting ahead) and we will use them, but at a much slower pace. Their math is super rigorous and my daughter needed some supplementing. We tried Eureka math, and that was fine for a month or so. She started complaining about the number of problems/videos for each concept, and so we changed to Math with Confidence level 1. She asks every day to do the "tree math". It's a great program and we will definitely be continuing on with that. Thanks for posting your videos and curriculum hits and misses. It's really helpful. I know not all kids learn the same, but it's really helpful to hear the reasons why/why not the curriculum worked.

We have the same math story with my 2nd grader. We started with Singapore because I thought it was the best. My daughter was so overwhelmed and it made too large of leaps for her. We switched Math with Confidence and she is excelling and she loves the games.

You and I are not the only ones. The reason I was able to have the courage to switch curriculums was because I saw so many moms with the same stories on KZbin, in my homeschool Facebook groups, and even with some of my personal friends! Thankfully we have forums like this were we can talk about things like this to help us make the best decisions for our kiddos! I think Singapore is still a great program, it just wasn't the right fit for my 1st grader and I'm glad we found the right fit in MWC!

We love math with confidence! We also love the short lessons. The well trained mind in general we love ❤️

Yes! MWC is really such a great program! I’m so thankful we found it! And I’m really liking the well-trained mind - I’m still reading the book, but I read through the grammar years and like the educational philosophy!

I love Trello, but haven’t thought to use it for Homeschooling. That’s a video I’d love to see!

I used Trello before homeschooling too and didn’t think about using it for planning until other homeschool mamas mentioned it! That’s definitely a video I will be putting together! 🥰

Since you like some Charlotte Mason lit. Style, you should try Beautiful Feet History. It is all book led.

We used Singapore Dimensions PKA + PKB Math for my youngest and she really enjoyed it! However, since hindsight is 20/20, knowing what I know now, if I could do it over, I probably would have saved myself a little money (and jumping around), and just rolled her into Kindergarten Math with Confidence after we finished up Kate Snow's Preschool Math at Home.

Denison Algebra for upper level math is a program that seems to evoke the same feelings that us Math with Confidence users experience. We’re a Math with Confidence family and plan to slide into Denison once we exceed what is available from Kate Snow.

Thank you for letting me know! I haven’t heard of Denison yet, so definitely adding that to my list of math curriculums to check out after Math with Confidence is complete!

Is blossom and root Christian? And what was the unit study you mentioned (for Christmas)?
@MaryBarfield8 ай бұрын
Blossom and Root is Secular. I have both religious and secular homeschooling friends that have utilized the curriculum and enjoyed it equally! The Christmas Unit Study we did was from Build Your Library and it was called "A Jan Brett Christmas" (4 week unit study revolving around a book a week). I absolutely love the illustrations from this author and the stories are so sweet. Perfect for my 4 and 6 year old. Also, I grew up with these books, so there was a hint of nostalgia for me as well!

We feel the same way about math with confidence - my kindergartener BEGS to do it!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ it changed the game for us. For reading, we love a science of reading approach and we use Moffatt Girls (on teacherspayteachers). Still working on science & social studies - I have Bookshark Science Level A coming today 😅

That's so wonderful to hear! I truly think MWC is the game changer everyone needs to try if they are struggling to find the right math curriculum - which is why I can't stop recommending it enough! lol
