King's Fine Woodworking . We fathers all commend you for involving your daughter(s) and being clever about allowing her to photobomb for her Social media. In this day and age there’s so much warped mentality that coincides with “selfies” and social media. Especially with teen girls. That’s an entirely different rabbit trail we can’t travel here. But great Job building a table AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, BUILDING HER SELF WORTH! While given her a social media platform

I know from prior replies you’ve made to me that you appreciate their help and their clear interest in your craft and in helping you. Your photo bomber is adorable and she seems very interested in and enthusiastic about helping out her dad. She has every reason to be proud. (It’s kinda odd - in a good way- and refreshing to see a teenager whose face isn’t stuck to a screen.) I like the red. The thumbnail picture is the reason I clicked on this video. @larrymbouche5 жыл бұрын
If you wouldn't use it as a wood workers bench in the shop, or would put it in the living room for furniture, then you have a dilemma. Either forget wood working, or build another bench out of hard maple, or white oak, but be aware the cut, joined, milled, and planed did mention lumber is going to require a bank loan unless you have a substantial amount of free cash. At least a couple of grand, and then you still have to glue up and assemble. Not including vises hold downs, cleats or dogs. But I agree, it would be very pretty in the living room. Put the TV on it. You could watch woodworking videos while you plane and chisel wood.

Beautiful work and design. It's pleasing to see your family is involved with your work/business. You are passing on great skill and lessons to your kids. As a beginner budget-woodworker, how important is it to have or access to a joiner and planer? I've seen many videos from all walks where these machines are being used.
@KingsFineWoodworking7 жыл бұрын
Hi Christopher. Thank you. And, there are an unlimited number of things you can build without those two tools. You can also buy lumber that has been surfaced and ready to join. The jointer and planer are nice, and they make things quicker, but they certainly aren't necessary.

What state do you reside in? I think you said in a previous video & just popped in my head to ask. I must say it is awesome teaching the girls. I'm trying to get my son to have at it but at 10 yo he wants nothing of the sort, lol We live in Pittsburgh & gets quite cold here so my envy to that beautiful shop & now table I'm about to order a bunch of Grizzly tools & have been tossing back & forth about the 12" saw So you have me sold I think Great job
@KingsFineWoodworking7 жыл бұрын
Hi, I'm in Colorado. Too bad we're not closer. I'll bet you anything when you get into the shop and start making cool stuff, your son will want to be there everyday. I have 5 daughters and it was the exact same with each and every one of them. I have a couple of videos up like my Thor's Hammer Woodworking Mallet, and a Wooden Sword, that kids just love. Once you put something they find cool in their hands, they want to make it! You should check out our facebook page; facebook.com/kingsfinewoodworking/ I have some micro Thor's Hammers, and you could make one! send me your email, and I'll send you a free plan for it if you like. As for the Grizzly tools, I love them. I bought my first Grizzly tool in the 1980's. And I've been hooked since. I am a big fan of the 12" Extreme Series table saw too. It is positively the best value saw on the market, and my favorite tool in the shop. I tested it to see the arbor runout during setup, and it came in at dead zero, not even 1/10,000th of an inch off. Pretty remarkable. This is the exact one I use amzn.to/2gOnZlb On a side note, if you decide to buy that, or any other tools for your shop, if you choose to use our Amazon link, we will get a small commission, but you pay the same (it's how we support our channel), no pressure of course, but I wanted to mention it. www.amazon.com/shop/kingsfinewoodworking Thanks for watching and commenting, ~James

Excellent job. It's every craftsman's dream to have their children follow in their footsteps. I got my first "Handy Andy" toolset when I was 3 years old. My dad started taking me around as his helper when I was 5. We spent many happy times working on his projects and collecting tools. I have a full woodshop in my basement. But I haven't been putting it to good use. Thanks to wonderful craftsmen like you on KZbin. I am going to update my shop and work on some projects. (I'm a retired Operating Engineer) Thank you. God bless.

I want to applaud you for having your daughter help you out in the shop. I have a daughter who is a very girly girl in all respects, but whom I've never coddled either. I've had her out hunting, fishing, working with me in the shop etc. The result (as she'll be graduating from college this spring with a nursing degree): She's confident around almost any challenge - changing a flat, checking her oil, doing odd jobs around her apartment etc. The confidence and life skills your daughter is learning will serve her well as she continues to mature. Well done sir. (And your woodworking skills are admirable - I'm more of a galoot at this point, but, when I've had access to power in the past, have certainly enjoyed the speed and accuracy that is offered with good power equipment.)

Another fine bench! I first caught your channel with the Extreme Torsion Box Assembly Table. I really like the projects you come up with! I like using Douglas fir as well. It’s readily available, decently hard, and I can build this entire bench for the price of 3 1x6x8’ maple boards. Kudos to your daughters for taking such an interest in woodworking, though I’m sure a big part of it for them is spending time with Dad! Kudos to you for including them, too. Woodworking is such a male dominated hobby/business and it’s refreshing to see women get involved. I’ll post some pictures when I build my torsion box table, though it will be a year or so off until I can move into a permanent shop. Now, I have to build this woodworking bench, too!

Great work man! Quick little tip for glueing, if you find the pieces slipping and sliding around, instead of using pins try and put a sprinkle of salt! This will keep everything from moving around and will never stain nor tarnish the grain of the wood! Give it a shot and let me know what you think!!! Cheers eh!
