Hey man these videos in english are highly appreciated so thank you for making them even if you take longer than usual to make them. Have you ever used shimano spinning rods where they are rated UL/M power? Shimano seems to be the only ones who do this from my knowledge. I've been eyeing one up but there is literally nobody with these rods.
@BassniperEng

Glad you like the vids. Shimano's UL/M is more or less an UL tip installed on a medium power backbone. It's their power finesse concept of being able to throw/manipulate small rigs in cover while still able to pull fish out thanks to the strong(er) than usual back bone. These rods typically have a lower minimum lure weight compare to the same power rating rods (i.e. for UL/M, casting minimum wt is couple grams lower than the typical M power rod). Shimano is the only one that labels these rod power in this way. Rods that are capable of doing these power finesse application have been around for more than a decade (i.e. Megabass F3-610DGS AMart Limited is one of them, 1/16-1/2 oz casting range which handles crappie jigs no problem while still able to pull 4 lbers out of lily pads -- I love it). Other high end model including Evergreen's Kaleido Serpenti Spider Spin TKSS-611MH-TG40X, handles 1/16-3/4 oz. MH powered rod casting as light as 1/16 oz. Shimano's new Poison Adrena has a couple power finesse models as well. I have a baitcasting ML/H 66, so far so good, I'd say it fishes well but not super impressive, plus I'm still skeptical of the open end design...just wait until I spear a wave or drive in heavy rain, I'll let you know how much water ended up in the rod butt lol. Cheers~🐟

This is a great review. I own several Megabass rods including a few Swimbait models as I have been into that technique for a while. I don’t own any Spinning models (only Shimano Cumara from a. Few years ago and a couple Diawa models) but this rod seems really unique. Thanks for posting such a well made video! Looking forward. New Sub! BTW congrats on that nice smallie on light tackle.

Excellent analysis. I appreciate your in-depth review, especially with respect to techniques that work for this rod. I hope you make more videos covering the different rod offerings. I have the newer P5 Addermine which is marketed as a drop shot rod, but I don’t like it for the drop shot, as I can’t seem to maintain bottom feel with it. I always reach for my Whipsnake instead.

I was never a fan of the Addermine for whatever reasons. Supposed to be more sensitive than my old F3-610DGS but...

With the release of the JDM Zangetsu it makes me intrigued to see how it fully compares to the Flyssa, it seems to potentially be a slightly lighter Flyssa with a slightly softer action. Especially since I'm thinking of upgrading my old 7' ML Shimano Crucial Drop Shot rod, which I tend to use it for all-around finesse and for trout as well (although the 7'6" Flyssa and 7'7" Zangetsu make it not as likely to be used in the tight quarters of smaller streams)

The Flyssa is a great drop shot rod for deep water and big fish. Authoritative power when fighting big smallies.

I see, both are from the inshore light game series, which makes Flyssa and Zangetsu even more unique as they are designed for freshwater bass fishing, 1 pc for Flyssa and handle joint for Zangetsu. Jackall New Revoltage series has a 78ML spinning rod with slightly higher power rating and lure rating (5/8 oz) RF action. It is a two piece rod. I don't have that specific rod but just got some other models in the new Revoltage series, very impressive, and given the relatively low price point, that might be a killer.

Thanks for a great, in depth review! Could you answer one question please? I fish jerkbaits from a high bank and I jerk sideways, not up and down, so long rods are not a problem for me. I am looking for a long spinning rod with a good tip section for throwing light 3/16 to 1/4 jerkbaits. Is the tip on the Flyssa good for this application?
@BassniperEng
@BassniperEng 4 күн бұрын
Flyssa can do this, but for the weight range you are targeting, I use the Destroyer Baby Plugging (from OSP High Cut, Nanahan to Pointer 78, Bevy 65 etc). 7 ft 2 in long, handle not too long so you actually do get a lot of rod.

The Zangetsu seems like an almost identical rod to the Flyssa from the specs. I’m curious why they added an extra inch to the length if its still one piece
@BassniperEng
@BassniperEng 7 ай бұрын
The Zangetsu is a grip joint (one and half pieces they call it). Likely added to the overall length just a little bit.
@Catch_and_Release_Angling
@Catch_and_Release_Angling 7 ай бұрын
@@BassniperEng oh interesting I didn’t realize that. So it’s a two piece rod with a shorter section that is just the grip area and then a longer section with all the guides? I guess this gives the blank more uniform flex but allows it to fit in cars easier?

Do you have any reviews of the windbuster? Wonder how Windbuster compares to Brigand.
@BassniperEng
@BassniperEng 7 ай бұрын
They are similar but Brigand is a tap tip heavy (think blank with thick wall) and the shear power from the Brigand is just amazing for an spinning rod. I don't know why Megabass rated it as ML...it is close to MH.

What do you think about this rod for bluegill and crappie fishing I got a new Stella 2000 I don’t like a noodle or whippy rod and ultralight. I want something where I can pull the fish in. and not worry about breaking the rod the flyssa Landsat baby plugging and the whippet there is one more rod from mega bass I just can’t think of it right now 😂😂😂 for bluegill and crappie jigs Iam throwing is 1/16 up 1/8
@BassniperEng
@BassniperEng 7 ай бұрын
If the crappie and bluegill you are targeting are the size of what Ty was catching from Texas and Arizona, Flyssa would be a very enjoyable rod to fish. Anything below half pound is likely going to be over powered by the Flyssa. Casting-wise as long as the line is matched up, no problem of as light as a 1/16 oz jighead (I tested the 1/16 Okashira with 8lb Super 8 Slick and 6lb FC leader no problem). Windbuster might be the one you are referring to. That rod is one power up than Flyssa, close to the Brigand from last gen. I caught many crappies from 2-3 pounds while bass fishing on the Brigand, other than the 3 pounder, all the others had no chance of fight back lol Baby plugging is a good one for small jerk baits and spy baits, as well as little spoons and blades. Good for dropshot, but I like the Flyssa better for jighead applications. Baby plugging will likely make the panfish fight more enjoyable. Good luck to your next rod!

What’s ur take on the shimano exsense infinity rod?
@BassniperEng
@BassniperEng 7 ай бұрын
I have not personally used these rods. Exsense lineup, including reels, are designed for Japanese seabass from shore, the rods are in the inshore light to medium light category, with casting for plugs/minnow in mind. The shortest is more than 8 ft long. I would not use it for most finesse softbait rigs except swimsuits and grubs perhaps.

Any rod over 7’ with a 3k up reels is so g over kill. 1k or 2k with braids is enough for any fishing, and balance with any rods!
@BassniperEng
@BassniperEng 7 ай бұрын
larger sized reel is more for the line management (ie less coils for given amount of line, even for braid), which in turn translates to longer casting etc. Same can be said for IPT. larger spool retrieves line (linear speed) faster. Also large sized spinning reels has larger drag which suits better for fighting larger fish. As far as spinning rod goes, Dobyns and Megabass (TS) have a couple models which are long and high powered. 1000/2000 reels do not balance well. The fishing scenario is also quite different. For the Megabass TS spinning rod for instance, it's 7-2, rated up to 1.25 oz lure and 30lb line, rod weighs more than 5 oz. I cannot imagine a scenario where this rod pairs with a 1000 sized panfish reel. Just my 2cents.
