Thank you for this, you wouldn’t believe the amount of parents who said that they’ve never tried stringing beads with their child when I used to work in peds so I am definitely going to try this with my 22 month old

I used to go through my newspaper advert and ask my son what's this? Pointing and his favorite snacks and our common appliances like Kettle and TV and microwave. Great way for me to get a change to budget same time 😅

I’m flabbergasted!! I just found an old video of my then 23 month old saying, “I go watch alligator, Daddy” while we were having dinner (we were talking about taking him to the zoo afterwards).

What do you recommend if they are not stringing sentences together or naming things when they are pointed to?

When she says what's happening in the picture did you tell her before? Like while reading the book previously did you discuss it or did she just make it up for herself by seeing the pictures?
@GinnyBeeEdD2 жыл бұрын
During the video, no! When I do read a book multiple times though, I will narrate what’s going on. Mostly for my sanity. 😂 For this one, she probably did hear me say it before and remembered. I like to add in practical words with the books, especially prepositions!

She's not advanced, necessarily. The ASQ is a standardized questionnaire of specific behaviors that children should be able to do at specific ages. If they are not able to do a certain amount of those behaviors, it COULD (not necessarily does) indicate that there MAY be a developmental delay. If a child falls below the assigned score for any domain, the child could then be referred for further testing. This little girl's abilities are a direct result of her parents being actively involved with her on a daily basis: playing, reading, and interacting.
