Great clip. Despite, or rather because, it's in b/w. A lot of people most surely still had only b/w sets back then, so one could imagine that's how quite a few people still saw it.

Many people had colour by 1978. A friend of mine youngest of 6 finally got colour in 1979 which was not common at all.

I feel very sorry for Scott. The establishment knew the truth and closed ranks to protect their own. Scott wasn’t one of their own.

Domine Wimbury it's because that most news programme are lost or wiped and get black and white clips or audio clips showing up years later in people's personal archives that they've recorded

This was made and broadcast in colour. From the video description, it seems that this was recorded on a very early reel-to-reel home video recorder like a Shibaden or a Sony CV2000, which were all black and white only.

Given that it was 1979, there's a good chance it was an EIAJ machine. EIAJ was the first attempt at a multi-manufacturer standard for open-reel video recorders aimed at the non-broadcast market. EIAJ offered both B&W and colour machines, but the former were more common.

Our school had a V2000 video machine and it recorded and played back in colour.

Thorpe was proved innocent of trying to murder Scott , so the only real issue was did he bugger a another adult with consent 17 years earlier , nowadays he would be well in favour

Legally, that wasn't an issue in 1978, unless Scott had been under 21 at the time in 1965.
