I have been using subterrors and sometimes my effects won't pop for Uma or stygo to summon from my hand with no obvious reason for it. Costs me the game 2 out of 10 matches. Any advice for me on what I could do to remedy that?

I used to demolish people with Subterrors. I even tried every build type and was able to find success before having 3 uma or battle. Pure is probably the best build (no invoker, paleo, or continuous traps) but hard loses to cosmic if you go for the standard warrior + wall first turn. With the cosmic era gone and Blue Eyes and Noble Knight not caring about it as much it can thrive a lot more. Book is crazy with it, but for any budget/F2P players you can slap in desert sunlight/ghosttrick flip trap or 2x neos fusion and 1x neos and a possible a/d changer to help the consistency of a possible top deck reliant strategy. The behemouth that flips everything face down is super useful as well

You do need Book - or something - to do well at high levels. I cannot systematically win with subterrors otherwise. However, I will say this is my 100% favorite deck. I wish I could do better with it.

Just do Invoker; it's literally a straight replace for 3 BoM. Duel Links is about having options; a one card combo to get out of a sticky situation and a free heavy hitter for it is, in my opinion, just as valuable or even more so than a panic flip-down (and yes, I have played with 3 BoM to test that out). I've been playing a similar deck this past season and did very well with it. Regardless of performance, I love my SubTerrors and I will play them even when they get nerfed to trash tier.
