@@SonicAwareness Great quality! Was most of this using the 5x lens on the Pro Max? I want to start recording more concerts and am trying to decide between 15 Pro or Pro Max but I feel like the 3x lens on the Pro will be a lot more useful - do you ever find yourself wishing you had a Pro instead? Thanks for all your fancams btw, I've been binge watching trying to make a decision 😅

@@yentaxi This was entirely the 5x lens. I use Filmic Pro, so I can't swap lenses mid-video.. this is a minor problem if I feel I'm too close, I'm "stuck" zoomed in. If I'm going to put in the effort of filming, I want to use the best possible tool, so I would only use the 15 Pro Max. If you do buy a new phone to film concerts, be sure to get Filmic Pro, or, if you're a video pro, Black Magic. The basic Apple Camera app is absolute garbage for concert filming. Good luck! Let me know which videos you watch are your favorite 💘

@@SonicAwareness thanks for the reply! Is there a reason you consider the Pro Max the best possible tool? As far as I'm aware the cameras are identical between Pro and Pro Max with the 3x and 5x lens being the only difference. Or do you just mean in terms of battery life etc. I'll check out Filmic Pro. I don't like being locked into one lens for the entire recording (part of the reason I wanted a 15 was to avoid that) but if the overall quality is going to be better than it might be worth it. Not expecting you to go into detail, but are there any recommended or 'must-use' settings for Filmic (or just tips in general) to help make the video and audio the best it can be? And do you use an external mic? You always seem to be front row or pretty close so I imagine you get some distortion from time to time Sorry for all the questions! No stress if you can't be bothered answering And to answer yours, I loved the tripleS fancam in NY - I was using it to mentally prep myself for the EVOLution tour we just had here in Aus lol

@@yentaxi I'll try to answer best I can: 1) The 5x lens is essential if you aren't close. And if you are close, you can get some pretty crazy footage like this CHUU video! I would say you should pretty much always avoid digital zoom, so having a good optical zoom is really important. 2) Being locked into one lens is definitely a negative in most situations, however, if you take advantage of the 15 Pro Max changing lens at 4K60 through the basic app, you run into some focus and unintended lens swap issues. The iPhone is using "AI" (lol) to determine the best lens for the best scenario. So if the iPhone feels like you should be using the 1x lens to capture the best picture even if you are at 5x, it's going to drop your lens down. I don't like this. 3) For Filmic, I can send you screenshots of my settings (hit me up on twitter or instagram, same @) if you'd like. But I don't think I did anything too strange except pick all the highest settings, except for Apple ProRes which takes about 1TB of data per hour and makes it kind of unfeasible to use without an external drive through USB-C. 4) I don't use an external mic. In general, I'm trying to be as lightweight and low-key as possible. I don't want security giving me any shit as I enter the venue (especially if it's a GA standing where every second counts for a good spot), and I don't want to be interrupted while I'm filming by a security guard. Security has interrupted me a few times for baseless reasons, I don't need to give them any more reason to do so with external tools or bulky addons. I think my audio is good enough without an external mic.. what do you think? It's something to consider. 5) I'm glad you enjoyed the tripleS cam! From a content perspective perhaps it's your favorite (for the reason you mentioned!), but from a technical quality perspective, it's the worst thing I've filmed with my iPhone 15 Pro Max. Sadly, I used them as an experiment with the basic camera app the first week I got the new phone, and I'm really not happy how it came out from a technical/quality perspective. The lighting, zoom, and focus is a mess.. which is kind of a shame because I had a great seat for their show. A lot of people actually DM'd me about what happened to the "quality you're known for" lol. But if you love it, then I love it, thanks for the kind words! 6) You didn't ask, but a good phone case/grip is essential. You don't want to be holding your phone raw or with a typical case. I use a case that kind of makes my phone feel like a pro camera. This lets me hold the device with a much more stable hand. It also keeps all the ports/microphones/etc. wide open. Good luck, I hope you film some amazing videos, I'd love to see it.
