Mama With A Fro that if she's allergic to the alkaline base product on synthetic hair . I would have to pick a client that is allergic. Synthetic hair itches if your scalp is allergic to the alkaline base product sprayed on it .

Please try this on someone who has this allergy. I would love to know if there is no itching. My daughter and I would love to wear braids again. This crochet style on my profile picture only lasted 2 days because I could not tolerate the painful burning and itching.

You can soak the hair in a mixture of water and apple cider vinegar for 15 minutes to remove the alkaline coating. Then rinse it throughly. The hair will not itch your scalp and it won't have the vinegar scent on it either.

The method you used to part for the box braids in the back section in my opinion was great because it looked full and not "scalpy". If I wanted my entire head in box braids, would I part it the same way in the front? I don't care for a middle part. Your advice will be much appreciated. Thanks!

Diana Fronsdahl A lot of braiders charge $80-150 for this style on an adult. Can take about 3 hours or less if the person is quick. This particular hair I heard is around $2.99 a pack. Braiding prices vary widely as in many states a person doesn't have to be a licensed cosmetologist to braid. Like in SC, as long as you don't use chemicals, you can braid at home not needing a license. People who don't work in salons or have their own business charge a lot less for braids than pro braiders do. Years ago, circa 1995 we paid $35 or 40 for this style. Due to the resurgence in popularity, it costs double that, and many times the price doesn't include hair. In certain cities, the price can even be $200 for an adult. I live in SC and the prices vary widely. Cheapest I've heard is $60 in my area which teen braiders charge (who just braid for the extra cash), to $200 for pro shops. Please check your local area, and call around for the best gauge of pricing. I don't recommend going to a shop to ask them, because often people will price gauge and say one price in person, and quote another over the phone. I like to ask over the phone unless a consultation is required before services. Beauty (in the video) is in Tampa, FL, and has a website in her description box. She has pricing on her site, but again, those are Tampa prices. For example, I looked up the cost of permanent loc extensions. In NY, they start at $2,000 for the length I wanted. In Atlanta, a lady quotes $1160 on her website. Locally, they start at $300.
