I'd never wish this on anyone. Hate to see that. It is spectacular but what a loss. I hope nobody was injured. That type of fire can flash quickly and then human nature is to try to put it out. Keep us informed if you can John. Thanks

Dang that would be a scary thing to be on top of when it went up. I don't think that little fire extinguisher would save you. Hope everyone is safe. The chipper can be rebuilt or replaced.

chippers and grinders have high danger rates.. must clean off at end of day blow off debris clean out with takes and shovels.. hot hydro fluid and dust chips or grindings don’t mix.. that’s why a lot of guys don’t want to work in logging or clearing they’d rather push dirt

Yep wood shavings, branches, hot parts everywhere, oil and fuel=fire! What's amazing is this doesn't happen all the time. Its a fire hazard every single day.

Well John I can say one thing I feel bad that the loss of equipment I know it was price covered by insurance and everything probably but still a massive loss massive hit and I can tell you that if this had happened when you were there we would all be worried about you not just from the fire but all the stress and everything that it would put on you and now with this happening and you not working there anymore it's not going to stress you out as much I hope and you're not going to have sleepless nights and you're going to enjoy family to the fullest

that was his chipper but yeah.. any peace of forestry equipment needs them... I also feel like it needs to be an option for tractors as well... One Lonely Farmer had a tractor burn to the ground back in 2012 due to a wiring fault but all the dry hay didn't help anything and could have helped cause the fire... though he was able to restore the durned tractor... I don't think its possible to fix this
