Yes you are correct that led is also a diode at the additional diode as here the current is taken as 25mA or 20mA which is higher than reverse current rating of an led due to which an additional diode is not installed in that case the current which is higher than 10mA (reverse current can burn the led) and for that only this diode has been installed which can work on higher currents like 1A

around 8.6k resistor and we also need to check power rating of it like like if we provide 10mA of current and voltage drop of resistor is 215.5 V so it's resistance will be 21.5K and power consumed will be 2.1Watt so 2 Watt resistor should be used

LED need 20 mA. 230 V / 20mA = 11.5 kO resistor. 230V * 20 mA = 4.6 W power dissipated on the resistor. In your video 230V / 100kO = 2.3 mA is not enough. Find a better solution.
