Charles Keating deserved that Emmy! AW was blessed to have him on the show! I love Maurice Bernard...one of the best but he wasn't robbed. This category was loaded with proven actors...and all Emmy winners.

Great post! Although there were only two prior Emmy winners going into this: David Canary (86, 88, 89, 93) and Peter Bergman (91, 92), with the former winning his fifth in 2001 and the latter winning his third in 2002. Then Maurice Benard won his first in 2003 followed by two more wins in 2019 and 2021 (and he’s currently nominated for a 10th time at the upcoming 50th annual Daytime Emmys). Eric Braeden won on his 5th try, in 1998, the one year he didn’t attend due to a prior stage commitment. But considering this was Charles Keating’s fourth and final nomination, I’m thrilled he won.

Delighted for Charles Keating's win. He was an exceptionally talented actor. Susan Lucci was *robbed* the scenes she submitted were her career best work. Jess Walton was also destined for a win. It is no surprise that Walton and Lucci would be rewarded with Emmys in the ensuing years.

That made my cry when I saw that AW guy won. I loved AW. It's a shame NBC didn't take care of them. After that NBC went down hill.

Maurice Benard has never been robbed of an Emmy. If anything, more deserving actors have been robbed every time the likes of he or Steve Burton have been nominated over someone so clearly above them as a Charles Keating or a Michael Zaslow.

Charles Keating and Michael Zaslow were great actors in their day, but so is Maurice Benard. I'm not sure why you feel the need to denigrate his work. He's doing Emmy quality work to this very day, in a current storyline on General Hospital where his character's son just died.

@@DanNJ316 this is from 1996 so yes this was "back in the day." To compare Maurice to Charles Keating isn't even comparable.

Erika slezak should have showed some grace and stopped submitting after 3!!! I mean ego!!!! After 3 its obvious a person is an industry favourite!! Takes away from a genuine win!!

Tony Geary has one like 7. There is no reason that one person can't win more than 3 not is it taking away from anyone else. That's just ridiculous

Susan Lucci was never good enough to compete with her. Deal with it.

The late great Charles Keating! Mark Pinter should have been nominated too. I really can't stand the way Peter Bergman always gets nominated, just do not care for his acting. Super happy for Carl Hutchins! (:
