You could, as long as they aren't too bulky. They are probably best stowed at the hinged end of the tent. ~ Ben

So a self inflating mattress can be left inside this tent when packed down?

Technically yes, but we recommend removing it for pack up between trips. All self-inflating mat brands have advised us that their mats are not to be kept inside a packed roof top tent of any kind. Even if the mat remains flat, it can be subject to large temperature fluctuations in a roof top tent over the course of the year which can effect the glue and bondings on the foam. There have been a few claims on self inflating mats that have bubbled or ballooned out for this reason, and are not covered by warranty. ~ Lauren
