Great explainer Alex.

Thanks for the explainer. For readiness under Red Alerts always prepare a Grab Bag with essentials (water, torch, phone but also key docs and personal items + clothes etc. Much advice elsewhere (but not social media). Bit cocerned though that both forecasters this morning seem to be wearing the same jacket. Is this the MetOffice jacket, or do you share?

Quick comment of appreciation. Met Office is right up there with the likes of the BBC as being essential. Good work you guys. Thank you.

You’re okay! If you’re near my area, the storm should last until around 5pm. Stay warm, don’t go outside or travel. You’ll be safe as long as you have all of the supplies necessary stated in the EAS alarm notification. There may be power cuts, so make sure you have flashlights/candles. Stay safe!

Just completed a train journey from Manchester to Leeds, no unusual weather, birds displaying happily over Huddersfield, trees barely moving. The trains & stations are very empty due to bogus warnings from the Met Office. The economic damage caused by these over reactions is immense!!!
@Skrobbo2 күн бұрын
So you had the weather the met Office expect you to have in those areas. Thanks for confirming their accuracy.

Most of your journey within the amber warning was in a tunnel.

We could do with weather warnings when there is going to be no wind and we have to rely on gas power stations to keep things going. That way the Met Office always have something we can worry about.

It looks like the winds were strong overnight (65 kph) but not as bad as further north and it's much calmer now.
