I must admit I love seeing the service academies doing well! You have to know how hard it is to get into one of the academies and to be a top athlete as well?! Every player on Army had the grades and extracurriculars needed for Harvard, Yale, MIT, or Stanford and chose Army. The likelihood of any service academy player getting into the NFL is way **less than 1%** which means the players are playing because of love for the game and their school, not a chance for big money in the NFL. Thank you to all players attending all of the service academies!

Army, and any team, would do the same. The difference was coaching and execution. What you described is what makes these players D1. It takes that competitive nature to play at this level, even in a group of 5 conference. They play that way because that's the spirit it takes to play at that level. Even if you're down, you still play to the whistle.

Army's kicker forced a Tulane fumble? Army's offense move the ball on the ground. Yet Army scored 5 touchdowns. Army's offensive line dominated the game. Army's defense held Tulane to 2 touchdowns. Sounds like a game when they wore leather helmets. Before the invention of the forward pass. Old school football.

I think Tulane was trying to have a more disappointing loss than LSU this season. LSU vs Bama was pretty bad but Tulane had a chance to make the playoffs with win.

If they played a legit Top Ten team. It'd be a slaughter. A solid D Line wouldn't allow them to rush. There are much bigger and faster players. Not to mention, their pass defense is very weak. They're good in their own league. But not the same caliber as the big boys.

Notre Dame held Army to less yards rushing and less yards per carry than their average, but Army still ran on Notre Dame just fine. ND tied air force with Rushing yards allowed. The issue in that game was the other side of the ball. ND had 7 rushes for 130 yards.

Surely being in the playoffs should be accredited to merit. Logic says that if a team wins their conference it should warrant automatic qualification into the playoffs... Why is it that in American football this is not the case as it is determined by an external decision-making panel and not performances on the field?
