The Secret Garden holds a special place in my heart. My dad read it to me for the first time after my third open heart surgery. I’m going to have to reread it and read it to my kids! Love the recommendations. I’ll for sure be adding a few to my tbr list! Thank you. 💕

Two totally different books, but both certainly worth it!

I read The Count of Monte Cristo this summer and loved it! Don Quixote has been on my list for so long. I’ve started it but never finished. It’s so funny and clever. Definitely interested in Pym, Dazai, and Pessoa. Thanks for the recommendations. 👍🏼

I just re-read The Secret Garden for the third or fourth time. The older I get (I'm 55), the more I seem to enjoy it. Reading it along with 12-year- olds is pretty wonderful, too. ❤

I can imagine how reading it with them is simply magical 🥰

I might actually join you in that: I read all ACs in my late teens, but they are due a reread

@cafeaulivre Definitely, mine too! My Dad bought me the abridged version when I was 10 years old. I read it on repeat, then when I was older, I fell in love with the adult version, lol.

I absolutely have to read The Yellow Wallpaper. I'm always so intrigued by classics that deal with 'hysteria'. I haven't heard of Schoolgirl but it's definitely piqued my interest! I'm hoping to finally get around to the Woolf on my shelf this year 😊 Danny the Champion of the World was one of my all time favourites as a child 🥹

The Bell Jar is great. Yellow Wallpaper is not for the feint of heart. It's a great story and should be read but it is psychology brutal. Gilgamesh is just fantastic.
