The commentary was inaccurate though. If memory serves, at the time of the 92 Porsche incident, one of the corvettes was at the back of the field and the other was in 2nd as it had its own issues. Also, the Toyota REALLY lost time because they went into the pits, not just because of an on track stop. there was also a TON of other highlights like Fassbender's incident, the flurry of incidents during the morning, etc.

@@LucaTgaard Yeah the C6 generation of corvettes deserve a Corvette VS (Ferrari, Porsche...) Movie. It was a true monster. Since GT-R is Godzilla, Corvette is King Kong, add the on road tuning of Vettes, it truly serves that title. On a separate note I don't like that GM is putting Cadillac as a hyper car, why not a hyper Vette. For fun call it the Frigate.

Nice to see the winning drivers still maintaining the tradition of spraying Champaign, as it was started back in the 1967 race with Dan Gurney in the winning Ford GT40 Mk IV; along with iron-man co-driver AJ Foyt, as he had to do back-to-back driving stints, over four hours worth, of driving at night; with a stick shift no less; as Gurney had overslept.

I've been out of the loop with endurance racing for decades, where I noticed the cars are now left-hand driver position. It used to be the driver's position on the right so it meant a shorter distance between driver and the pit wall; saved seconds for the driver changes; along with making it safer for the driver exchange with not being exposed to other passing vehicles along pit lane.
@erdbeerenrex
@erdbeerenrex 2 жыл бұрын
Interesting take on this. How far back have you been watching endurance racing? I guess the distance between the driver and pitwall doesn't matter that much these days as the time taken for drivers to switch themselves is often shorter than a full pitstop including tires and fuel.

GTE cars must be based on road legal varients. Aston Martin is right hand drive, whereas most other GTE cars are left hand drive.
@bloqk16
@bloqk16 2 жыл бұрын
@@erdbeerenrex my interest goes back to 1964, as that's when Ford made its serious effort in that racing endeavor and it faded upon the demise of the Porsche 917 in the early 1970s. Even looking at the pictures of the Porsche 956/962 that dominated the 1980s, those cars had a right-hand driver's seat.
@Tom_Hadler
@Tom_Hadler 2 жыл бұрын
Most circuits are clockwise, including le sarthe, and a rhd car gives better visibility for the right hand side in order to more accurately place the car at the apex. That's the theory anyway. I always think being on the left would mean you can have less fatigue from lateral g-force, as your corners are a slightly bigger radius. Best position has to surely be neutral, right in the middle, laterally and longitudinally.
@bloqk16
@bloqk16 2 жыл бұрын
@@Tom_Hadler While I was out on an exercise walk, it struck me as one plausible reason the older race cars were right-hand drive: _Weight bias._ Back when suspensions were primitive, by current standards, putting the weight of the vehicle where it would be on the inside of a turn helped reduce the lateral g-force of the vehicle wanting to move left. In the US, with the left-hand turns circuits, especially at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the race car chassis would be biased towards the left. The 1965 Lotus 38 Indy car is an exaggerated example of a race chassis with a left bias, as the suspension pieces were of unequal lengths.

Can someone tell me why the 93 lost a bunch of extra laps early? Was it mechanical failure because it wasn't rebuilt properly after Michaels practice crash? Or something else?

I saw the lone corvette get knocked off course and thought wow what an ass.... then he mentions the driver immediately went to the corvette pit and offered his sincerest apologies for the greatest mistake in his career. I wish other motorsport leagues were this way. It was a huge mistake and deserved an apology, but most drivers would've tried to excuse it.

@@jeffditsch3396 Perrodo is not a rookie. He is also one of the nicest guy's in the paddock. This year was his tenth Le Mans start, and last year he co-drove the winning GTE Am Ferrari. Take a look at that Corvette accident. Look at the LM P2 car on Perrodo's right hand side. The driver of that car moves unnecessarily left towards Perrodo who instinctively also moves left trying to avoid contact, ( all of this at high speed) unfortunately hitting the Corvette. I think the driver in the other LM P2 car has to also take some responsibility for that accident.

Not much to show… they made the alpine slower because it was 3rd i quaily? Yea u read that right. It was 3rd so they gave it BOP… it was slower than the LMP2 cars… And glickenhaus just didn’t get the BOP they need to be able to fight Toyota… destroying HyperCar already is a dumb move, they just want Toyota to win
