Hey guys! Check out the video description for more details. I'll have to include more details in the video next time haha. The temps ranged from 72F - 93F during this test. I live in a desert climate so the temps usually drop at night. Someone in a humid environment wouldn't see quite the temp change and the fridge would probably pull more power than seen in my testing. Thanks for watching! More of these tests in the future!

Hey Jason, thanks for this review, it helped me with my decision. I couldn't decide between the two fridges, however, I ended up getting the Setco RV45S after seeing this video and a few others. I did a simple test this past weekend. Hooked it up to my jackery 1000 and kept it outside in 107 degrees F while using it regularly in place of my cooler. I don't think I'll ever use a cooler again in the backyard during pool time haha. It ran for 55 hrs straight and the jackery still had 28% left. Can't wait to use it on my next trip. Thanks again for this review and keep up the great work!

I really had my heart set on the icecovl45 but this sets a strong case for the setpower. $300 difference is pretty significant. Plus it seems to be slightly more efficient as well. My guess is that both of these are made in China (minus the compressor on the iceco I believe, German?) and true value might come down to long term reliability. I mean, I'd like to still be able to use the fridge 2-5 yrs from now, that'd be nice.

Ambient temperature tests during the summer months are of great use to portable DC fridge users. For example: with a peak afternoon temp. of 98 to 99 degrees Fahrenheit - my older 41 quart DC truck fridge with a Danfoss/Secop compressor pulled about 350 to 400 watts of power over a 26 hour period in its ECO mode. The fridge thermostat was set to 2° Celsius. So, if someone want to be conservative, budget about 400 watts of energy to run a small fridge for 24 hours in the summer.
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid 3 жыл бұрын
When the temps get up near 100F or more the power usage goes exponential, I will do some more extensive testing on the channel in the future. Like 105F and such.... Missed the really hot days this year. 400wh is a good amount of storage, I always recommend at least 500wh or more just in case the sun isn't shining to charge back up.

I bought the setpower TC35 and I'm very happy with it, the temperature goes down to -4 degrees. I started out buying the TC20 and realized I need something a little larger. It's well worth the price compared to the other fridges out there. I went 7 day's running on my LifeP04 batteries and only loss 1 volt , it started out at 13.7 volts and finished at 12.3 volts without any charging from my solar panels.

I just got the Setpower fridge. It's been great. Was trying to decide between the 2. I ran it for 96 hours straight in the hot garage (mid 80s average) with a Bluetti 240 on DC and only consumed 60%. Both fridges are very similar in design besides the compressor brand and seem to be affiliated including their address in California. Great comparison video!

The difference is in the compressor. The Setpower has a value chinese compressor. It can only work up to 30 degrees from level but does use less power and has a 2 year warranty. The Iceco uses a German Secop compressor that uses slightly more power, but can handle a 40 degree slope, impacts, and will last longer because the motor uses more power and won't burn the windings. It also has a 5 year warranty.

I had both of these in shopping carts wanting to pull the trigger on one or the other. I’ve had a 63qt ARB Elements in the past, so I am no stranger to fridges. I am sure the Iceco has a better compressor from a long term reliability standpoint - by sure, I mean I really have no clue - but Setpower has a sale going, plus your promo code, followed by the test, my decision was made for me. Was able to buy this for half the price of the Iceco. $325 with no tax and free shipping. Long term will tell, but I am confident I will get at least 2 years out of this because of the warranty, and honestly, it’s around the same price as a decent rotomolded ice chest.

Revisted this video to make a decision on buying a bouge rv or the setpower and decided on the set power , even thoogh it was a little more expensive . The difference in price is negligible to me. First it has a 3 year warranty. Second it does better on off-road excursions as the compressor will tolerate the vibrations and will handle 40º angle without issues. Third is the efficiency, very good like my dometic, and lastly I love the aluminum built. Thank you again. Wonder if I will get the same results here in Texas with more than 40 days of triple digit numbers and as high as 106º.

Nice real world test. Yes I'm very surprised with those very low power draws. What was the hi/lo temps for the 24 hour period? My only concern would be the warranty on the condensor 2yr vs 5yr, and is that the failure that dooms these fridges? You'd be paying about $130 extra for that warranty but would you have to send the fridge back on your dime? That would make any repair cost prohibitive and I doubt the compressor would be a user replaceable item.

It depends how you are going to be running the fridge. 24/7 365 go with the ICECO. If you are running the fridge for camping, road trips and emergencies get the Setpower. 🙄 California is on fire... still. Would the DC power use fewer watts with these fridges under identical circumstances? I'm thinking about a camping situation where you might be using a solar power station to run the fridge. And, with California burning we can't really count on solar to charge, so I'm wondering how long one might be able to run the SetPower on a given battery?
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid 3 жыл бұрын
Power stations can charge with 12v DC to DC Charging in your car and you can run ac inverters/gas generators to use the stock chargers so there are a few ways around not having solar available. But as for knowing the estimated run time, as long as you know the watt hours capacity of your power station, you just divide that by the average watts used. For example the Bibene has 582 wh of storage using the DC output, so a fridge pulls 20 watts average (582/20= 20 hour run time with no charging input). The fridges would use just a little less power on DC power only as they would have wasted energy going from AC to DC power.
