This is probably the 3rd time I've eaten Indian food in my life. Dalena has had it a couple of times but we're quite inexperienced when it comes down to this South Asian cuisine.
I think an Indian travel series would help with this!

There is North-East food, Bengali, South Indian (Andhra, Telangana, Tamil, Karnataka, Kerala) of course, dishes from Bihar, Odisha, and much more like Uttarakhandi, Rajasthani and Gujarati. Cannot wait for more uploads!

Weclome to the world of South Indian Food --- Trust you guys had a wonderful time enjoying the varied dishes that have varied flavours .... The Orange & sweet dish that you had is made of Semolina and is called 'KESARI BATH' (Saffron Flavoured Semolina) .... It counter part cousin is the 'UPMA' or 'RAVA BATH' (the while coloured savoury dish made of Semolina again) garnished with curry leaves, mustard seeds, and other additives..... I guess you were a PONGAL (a rice dish with lentils) a wholesome meal that is light, very digestive and good to the stomach. 'IDLI' is the dish that is a Rice Pancake made of fermented black lentil and rice) that is usually dipped into SAMBAR (Lentil soup with vegetables) and added with other condiments like the 'COCONUT CHUTNEY' or 'TOMATO CHUTNEY'. You guys got it right with the 'MEDU VADA', which is a savoury dish in the shape of a doughnut. Again to be had with a dip into any of the Chutneys with Sambar. The 'POORI' is usually served with a Potato Dish (called ALOO) or SAGOO / SAGU (mixed vegetable dish)....

Honestly I was shocked you guys went into a 100% Veggie place. I did enjoy watching you try things with such an open mind. Butter chicken and it's spicier cousin Chicken Tikka Masala are addictive. Next time impress me by getting Palak Paneer! Trust me, it's very good, just very green. Indian butter, ghee, is so good because the milk solids have been removed. I used to make it when I was cheffing. It makes crepes come out beautiful!

i also slept on indian food for the longest time!- i hope you guys try pani puri, the texture is amazing. i'm not sure if the idli i had at a restaurant wasn't up to par, but personally it feels more like something i'd enjoy at home if i need a filling breakfast. not sure if i'd order it again at a restuarant

I grew up in noble park ☺️ I’m so happy you both went there and also Springvale as well. I love Indian food, butter chicken with lamb or chicken biryani is the best. Also the cheese garlic naan is my fav 🥰

Omg.. it was so nice to watch you guys try Indian food. The breakfast you tried is from South India the place I live. It is the vegetarian breakfast version. We also have non vegetarian options for breakfast. All of those main dishes like Dosa, idli, poori can be eaten with spicy chicken or fish or lamb curry or Masala fry. I would suggest you guys to try some authentic south Indian veg or non veg meals. Your dinner was North Indian food. Which is another amazing cuisine. Next time do try paneer Tikka dry or curry. Indian cuisine is very diverse. Each state has its own cuisine. Love your content.

In Malaysia you can eat all these at Mamak and the first food you ate is called Roti Tisu (tisu as tissue because it's so thin) and we dip it with condense milk

'SAMOSAS' usually have a filling of potato and peas made with indian spices. The Brown Chutney you had with the Samosa is a TAMARIND CHUTNEY... a sweet and tangy condiment.

Watching #Chonnyday for Dalena's charm and Chonny's humor over a relatable theme - food . @4:22 Dosa $7 AUD seemed expensive. At the Indian restaurants I've been to, it's served like bread at Western restaurants or chips at Mexican restaurants.

I looked it up and it’s Kesari, semolina fudge! A sweet dessert made from semolina flour! (Think brownie batter I guess😂) yum! Never tried it but sounds delicious

Actually it's not brownie batter ,not even close to it. Semolina is a coarse flour made from DURUM variety of wheat . Semolina is cooked in GHEE(clarified butter) and then water and sugar is added and it's cooked until Semolina soaks up the water . It's traditionally brown in colour but the one in video is orange as it contains saffron ( kesar) hence the name kesari. Hope this helpss😊

That orange sweetdish is called kesari bhat. Kesar means saffron. Its made with semolina, clarified butter, saffron, cardamom and milk/water.

I was hoping you’d order some of the not so popular Indian Dishes, just so I could learn about some new Indian dishes to order. I’ve tried all the things you ate in this video. I would love another video where you go try different foods from different parts of Indian. I don’t know the difference between North Indian food vs. South Indian food. I’ve heard they are much different. I would also love to see you try different less popular foods, or maybe the dishes that the restaurant workers like.

The breakfast option you ate. All the dry things are supposed to be dunked in the curry/soup or chutney or you can mix it. It needed to absorb the liquid to get taste, that's why it's dry. You can follow this rule with almost all indian breads or the dry part of the dish. Just savour it in the curry. Better to ise spoon so that you can drink some curry/soup while eating bread/idli/vada. South Indian food (breakfast) items, you should try again. Because it is favourite of many people here Desserts you should try for sure- Gulab-jamun, and a must 'Rasmalai', Gajar-ka-halwa.

Also if you ever try Argentine food, Chonny would love Mate, it is similar to green tea. but if you do order Mate, do not mix the spoon because that's how you get all the tea leaves in your straw. There is a very specific way to drink it. (It is also meant to be shared around with your friends from the same drink.)

That was Shah Rukh Khan on your soda can! He is a big Bollywood film star and producer (I couldn't tell if you were serious or joking about who it was). I love Bollywood movies. I think one of his I liked best is Monsoon Wedding. You should definitely watch if you get a chance. I think it's interesting to watch you guys have Indian food. I have had some and like it but always want to try more. I do not eat lamb or dark meat chicken though.

South have less sweet desserts. You need to try. High level sweet is not liked in South of India. There is heavy sweet too but less sweet desserts also present in South India but on other hand most dessert is so sweet in north.
