Welcome to Hidden Hammock, the channel that takes survival challenges to the next level! In this thrilling episode, join us as we embark on an incredible journey in Batam, Indonesia, where we attempt to survive 24 hours with no food, no money, and no shelter.
Our adventure begins under the motorway bridge, and from there, we make our way towards the town centre. Along the way, we'll have exciting encounters, such as stopping by a food cart to get creative with our bamboo hat, painting it black with a can of spray paint. The lovely ladies at the food cart generously provide us with two pieces of deep-fried Cassava and a small bottle of water, all for free!
As we continue our expedition, we explore the abandoned houses scattered throughout the residential districts, foraging for food and going on the quest for mango. Once we have enough supplies, we set out to find a stealth camping location, seeking safety and serenity.
However, things take an unexpected turn, and suddenly, we find ourselves in a dangerous situation. Will we overcome the challenges and survive the Stealth Camping Alliance Worldwide Survival Challenge? Tune in to find out, as we push our limits and showcase the resilience of the human spirit.
Subscribe now to Hidden Hammock for thrilling survival challenges, breathtaking scenery, and unforgettable experiences from around the world. Don't miss this action-packed episode, and join us on this heart-pounding adventure of a lifetime!

Good views on this one Josh, this was my 4th attempt to watch this, life gets so busy. Fabulous footage, a real insight into the country and its people. That manhole cover missing! ridiculous. All those abandoned places, unreal adventure land. That heat is horrific looking, glad you’re better. So easy to get into a rapidly deteriorating situation abroad.

Great vid man. I only just got to sit down and watch it. Missed premier because I got busted on my phone when I shouldn't have been. Love the interactions with locals. Not sure what caused the sickness but I'm sure the heat had something to do with it. Personally the heat effects me. I'm fine for days then it just wears me out and I do the same with the shower every 10min lol. Hope you're feeling better now. All the best.

So sorry you got sick Josh. I was worried seeing how hot you looked and at same time not drinking any water. In those temperatures dehydration comes very fast plus you were walking a lot. So glad you made it. I think your thumb nail could be much more dramatic “I almost died of heat stroke’ maybe you should do a follow up video. But main thing is you recover soon and never do this again. I do think everyone needs to have safety in mind on these challenges and hope we never ever have a fatality on one of these challenges

Thanks Twisted Star, I have been recovering for five days now, and I am getting better every day.. That's real deal surviving there! You absolutely succeeded because the best thing you did was get out of that heat! That's why I didn't go out at all because I have already had heat cramps lots of times, heat exhaustion many times, and I've lost consciousness from heat stroke twice. Part of survival is knowing when you might be heading into a dangerous situation and, if you find yourself in one, knowing that you need to get the hell out of it. I noticed you starting to have issues with the heat before you even had the chance to paint your hat black, because you seemed more out of breath and intent upon resting in the shade (which was a good move). Having a black hat was certainly not as good as just wearing it as it was, but I was noticing the early stages of the human struggle with heat before that. Your skin was getting rather red, although maybe you also got a sunburn. I don't tend to get those but I get really red skin from the heat, even if I don't spend a moment in the actual direct sun. The yuca/cassava was probably fine. No one can eat arsenic so they probably knew to soak it before preparing anything out of it. I ate loads of it in Peru and never had any problems. You could have had a moderate allergy to it though because a severe one would have swollen your throat shut but a moderate allergic reaction to food is sometimes just having gastrointestinal issues for kind of a long time. For example, if I eat anything with wheat in it, I have gastro issues for about a month. Perhaps the most dangerous thing about the heat is that it messes up your brain first and tends to make you delude yourself into thinking that you can just tough it out when the reality is that you're actually in a very dangerous situation. This is probably why heat kills so many people each year since it's so subtle until you're pretty seriously ill. The worst part may be that just a little rest makes you feel better for a little while so that you think all you have to do is take more rests. However, it builds up over the day. That's how I ended up passing out twice from heat stroke and I'm only alive because the sun went down and it actually cooled off at night. All that I noticed during the day was that I was uncomfortably hot, felt weak and kind of slow-minded, a little dizzy, and my stomach was upset. It was very much like when one has had just a tiny bit too much to drink. Next thing I knew, I was waking up in the middle of the city at 1 am, unable to regulate my body temperature. I felt sick for a week each time this happened. In my experience, I think you were probably close to having the same thing happen to you but you saved yourself by going home and regularly cooling yourself off so good job because you succeeded in a real world survival challenge!
@whoever6458

Also, I've always really wanted one of those hats too but for gardening. Seems like a good hat to keep the sun out of your eyes while you're out in the garden.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with me, I agree with everything you said, and I will be regulating my temperature often in the future. I have been recovering well for five days now, and I’m feeling stronger every day. I have two weeks left here in Indonesia. I found it interesting what you said about cassava cuz I remember having some at my aunt's place so I got the Googling and I kind of think it was not prepared just right it should be cut into smaller pieces and soaked for 5 days in water anyways that was on the medical news today website
@HiddenHammock
@HiddenHammock Жыл бұрын
Yeah I agree, it was the first time I had tried in my life and maybe my body had a small reaction. I didn’t eat anything that day before I ate the cassava, so maybe if I had breakfast and then consumed cassava my body would have handled it better. Unfortunately I thought it was deep fried banana because they were cutting up a bunch of small bananas and that’s what I asked them for just one or two bananas for free, but they offered me deep-fried cassava🤪 and like I said I thought I was enjoying some deep fried banana which is something I really enjoy. I am still grateful that they gave me food and water and next time I go past. I’m going to visit those sweet ladies from Indonesia again and reward them for their hospitality🫶🇮🇩

And now that you’ve had the heat effect you like you did, it can happen easier now.
