Im so grateful that the Josu Salt family invited you to the country to have an experience like that. You’re developing an audience and platform and I was thinking that Korea is so much more than K-pop and bars… For young people, it’s such a nice twist to learn about country life and traditional cultural arts just as much as modern Korean life. I’m so happy for you Logan.

I was just thinking that the video of you visiting your grandparents at their snowy cabin and chilling there prepared you well for this kind of country-style, home-cooking and low key vibes too. Even if there’s a language difference, I think you sense a lot of what’s going on. You’re just perfect for this journey. I feel like I’m watching someone’s life unfolding thru these travel vlogs. Keep going… ✨ 🌎 ✈️ 🏡

Hi Logan.😊👋🏻 Ethnic Korean here, living in New Zealand. I teach Korean, I have taught community classes for 2 years. Just wanted to let u know that the lady at the restaurant said "많이 드시라고.." as she plonked extra rice for you. I just wanted u to know she used Jon-dat-mal (respectful tone) to you, evem though technically, because u are younger than her, she could have used Ban-mal (반말). The KR language's unique feature I believe is that our language is split into 반말 (ban mal) and Jondatmal (존댓말). Google very badly sometimes, translates Jon dat mal as "formal language", but 존댓말's 존댓 --> roots from 존중하다, which means to respect. Respect for the listener from the speaker. Also for elderly Korean folks, food and lots of food is a form of love language. For people like my nana who went thro the Korean war, food was not always plentiful. Same for my dad who grew up poor. I hope u enjoy the rest of your time in Korea, and especially enjoy non-Seoul trips too.🤗 Thank u for ur authentic yet calming & relaxing videos. xo

Food is definitely a big time love language. I have Korean parents in law (and I'm American), and there are times when food love is blasted on me in very serious quantity 😂 it's a special thing, and I often feel spoiled!

OMG!! I am so glad to see my hometown, Mokpo, in your video. Thank you. :) The soup looks like 추어탕 or 짱뚱어탕 in Korean (I think it would be highly likely 짱뚱어탕 because the mudskipper usually live in mud flat and they are well caught in southwestern Korea.) Those kinds of soup are made of mudfish or mudskipper after grinding them. I love soooo much that soup. Anyway, It is really good for health. You've been so lucky!! Enjoy and safe a trip rest of days :)

@FlavorofMind Жыл бұрын
@Brandon To me this dish looks similar to 추어탕 (chueo-tang) which uses pond loach (often ground up) and vegetables. There are other soups/stews that are similar to this too, so I don't know exactly what it is. But chueo-tang is what comes to mind 🙂
@Preschool4yo-7yo Жыл бұрын
@@brandon3872 Good question. As i see it is too big to be called /naap se me/ and with only meat part it looks like /mae ro/ or it is maybe cod or /myeong tae/. I am not sure. Let's ask this youtube channel's host Logan when he finishes searching the name. Ô_Ô V

@@sofia3294 Shin An is infamous for being dangerous and lawless in South Korea, especially for slavery in salt farms, often exploiting those with intellectual disabilities. They had to contact police in Seoul because the local police station was also in on it. Even the local judge defended it as 'customary practice'. There are unusually high mutilated(making identification impossible) john and jane doe s, especially after the news report on salt farm slaves. There was a horrible gang rape on a female teacher, a male teacher gone missing, 1000 illegal opium trees being grown found on the island Imja do, etc. There's even a meme that says "From now on, your name is DaeSik(an example of possible generic name given to new salt farm slave)" and there's a widespread notion that the area is dangerous, and that you should never ever wander alone, especially if you're a woman or a child. It's thought that locals either turn a blind eye on local crimes or are in on it themselves, which is why things could be much worse than reported in reality.
