most of the people who live in the slums of the big cities in India are the migrants from small villages. they all have their houses In the villages. they live in the slums because of the low rent. if they start earning lot more in the cities then they move to bigger homes.

I actually had a culture shock when I saw some of the situations in Mumbai, I didn't visit the slum areas as I already saw similar type of living around the big chaotic polluted city. That slum areas are not that far from my previous office in BKC, Bandra East, a prestigious office complex area.

I really wanted a chance from my previous employer to be posted to Europe, but instead I got Mumbai, which wasn't my cup of tea at all, I'm looking for inspirations of Europe, but instead, I got to see the harsh reality for the.poor people living in India. It really disturbed my mental blissfulness. 😄

@@dacedaine822 Good to see you commenting again, Dace. Yes, many of us are actually living in a paradise. I've seen worse than what Yad had seen in Mumbai. What's bothering most is the mental scarcity, struggling for a decent meal to eat and a decent place to stay. It's something opposite my true nature, mental abundance, and after going through two depressions, my passage to India wasn't worthwhile at all, it's draining my positive energy. Even so, I still believe there's a chance for me waiting in Europe, something that my previous employer should have honored my true and humble wish. 😄

Dharavi is the largest slum in Asia and is very huge and s u rightly said about one billion $ is generated from the leather industry there and the garment industry . The worlds brands are made here . The eco system has been written and researched by many social scientists in many prestigious schools all over the world . Generations have grown up there and strangely there is very little violence & crime . To understand dharavi is v v difficult .ngos work there and during covid the slum which is so congested & dirty was spared and the incidence of covid cases were immediately reported & hospitalized so deaths were not many . New York had more deaths due to covid . BTW all the branded dry snacks which Mumbai eats in large quantities is made in dharavi .😂
