Tried both the first and last ones during the christmas week on a KL roadtrip with my friends, have the exact same reaction as yours. The claypot rice doesn't wow us, may require even more salted fish to give it more umami. And the bak kut teh is amazing, the scallion rice they give to go together with the soup is pure bliss, matched in heaven. Just like the partnership you have with Jovane!
