Regarding the why-questions: Ask him back what he thinks why you're doing something (etc.). It saves so so much time of you trying to explain and answering hundreds of why's. Take it from a nursery teacher

The gentle parenting with the cards was so lovely, telling him no and he shouldn't do that but also kissing his foreheard to show its okay and you're not angry or upset with him

As the person whose wife goes out to work a 9-5 and I am the WFH freelancer, it can take a while to sort out the dynamic of house chores. It was tricky for us at certain points, but luckily my work, although pretty full on, usually isn't actually 35-40 hours a week, so I can fit in house chores around that when my wife is that work, which then frees up our evenings/weekends waaaaaaay more and it makes me feel good to know I am using those 9-5 hours productively in a way that helps both of us out. I have to say, it is also AMAZING to be fully in charge of running the house. When my wife was briefly working freelance from home as well, diving the chores used to drive me crazy and I just love being the one who decides when certain tasks get done, what washes get done when. I think deep down, I would love to just do chores all day and keep the house running rather than work xD Fitting housework around my work also means I get regular breaks from sitting in order to vacuum or hang the washing out or clean the bathroom etc etc. Something I found super useful in particular recently is if I know tomorrow is going to be a washing day, I load the machine up before I go to bed and set it on a timer so that it should finish riiiiiiight as I get up and come downstairs to feed the cat. That means I can spend 10 mins hanging it out whilst doing misc things like making coffee and general morning things before the workday even starts, and that's one chore out the way long before 9am! Or if I have some dead time because a client is taking ages to respond to me or send me something to do, I will use that time to wipe the kitchen down or vacuum for 15 mins That being said, we don't have kids, so I can only imagine the chaos first thing in the morning with a little one running around! I also genuinely do not know how all the house tasks would get done if we both went out to work. It's already an uphill battle trying to keep the cleaning maintained, even when I am at home all day, so I don't even want to think about how messy the house would be if we were both out working and coming home too exhausted to clean!

Love the snapshot of what it’s like to be a working mum with a toddler! Your videos and Melanie’s are so encouraging and informative as I look ahead to a hopeful future. It’s helpful to see that the all-or-nothing perspectives on motherhood (it being either nothing but blissful or entirely overwhelm and exhaustion) are tosh

this video is amazing. such a great example of how the reality of parenting can still be shared without involving your child's identity! yes there are some instances where his personality comes through, but it's all toddler stuff that isn't specific for him. thank you so much for showing the reality - the good and the bad. ❤

I'm glad you're really enjoying audiobooks! The Ending Fire trilogy by Saara El-Arifi is an incredible series that is very well-written and diverse and is also available as audiobooks. You should definitely check it out! SJM is an incredibly problematic author (Distractify has an entire article on this subject) but in short: she used the murder of Breonna Taylor to advertise the cover of one of her books (a post which she still has up even though she's been called out for it), and all of her books lack diversity and are often times misogynistic and predatory.

Hi, professional nanny here!! Speech can be super varied with toddlers. Some kids have lots to say and others tend to observe more or can get their needs across non-verbally (pointing, signing, other noises only intelligible to their parents 😂). If you’re concerned at all you can ask a speech therapist to do an initial assessment checking for things like tongue tie or other developmental delays. They can be a great resource for advice! There are plenty of exercises/games you could try to encourage speech through play in the meantime. I’ve found often the simplest things help the most like labelling things the child might point at with just the one word so “book” “block” “duck” rather than “oh yes! I see the book you’ve got, would you like to read it?” To avoid overwhelming them with information to take in and figure out how to respond to. Talking to them how they might say it if they could, one or two word statements. Also games of mimicking sounds can be fun; and seeing your mouth making the sounds can help them to figure it out themselves. Same goes for reading stories with them! I hope this is helpful ❤

I hope you will focus on communicating with your child in whatever way is natural for them. It's okay if your child never talks! Some people never talk and they can still live rich and full lives. Being urged to do something (such as talk) can make some people (such as PDA autistics) shut down and resist doing it even more than if they were not pressured/encouraged to do it.

Regarding Sarah J Maas and ACOTAR from someone who picked up Throne of Glass over 10 years ago (😭), as a fantasy reader TOG is better in terms of worldbuilding and the overall arching plot. ACOTAR book 2 is the best in the series. But her books do get smuttier to the point where while reading her newer Crescent City ones I was so bored by the scenes! They just weren't moving the plot along at all and I'm someone who got introduced to fan fiction wayy too young. Once you've read one SJM self-insert main character smutty scene with an old ass magic being, you've read them all.

@@morehannah I don't find the occasional videos exploitative. If there were daily or weekly vlogs documenting his whole life, I don't think that would be right, but that's not what you're doing. This is clearly a snapshot of your life, as a parent. It's helpful for other people considering parenthood to have an idea of what life is like with a child of different ages. One video a year or one every 6 months is enough for that, and is not putting Rowan's whole life online.

A video like this can’t be lumped in with other peoples’ content like family vloggers etc who document every moment, big or small, for the world to see. This is about Hannah’s life, and the fact his face isn’t shown does change a lot in this context. Most people wouldn’t be upset to know their parents had made these kinds of videos - it’s fine if you feel that way, but but parenting decisions can’t be made by considering how every person on earth might possibly feel about something. Children can’t consent to many things, their parents have to make most decisions for them. Kids often don’t consent to going to school, seeing a doctor, saying bye to their parents when they leave for work. The issue of consent and parenting is nuanced, but thinking a child has to consent to everything is unreasonable and not possible.

@@leggyegg2890kids legally have to go to school, and it is required for their well-being to see a doctor. Those are spurious arguments as you’ve basically listed things that are beneficial for their upbringing 😂 not sure how being in a KZbin video fits into that category… It’s not a requirement to show films of your child to 10,000s of people on the internet. Also just because kids can’t consent doesn’t give you the right to do whatever you like around them without consequences. I didn’t consent to my childhood trauma but I damn sure well blame my parents for it.

I agree - I also think it's a bit weird that some people think blurring a child's face is enough to protect their privacy online. But telling strangers on the internet rather private details about your child's development, habits, struggles, etc. and making content based on that is seen as totally fine and not problematic at all? That doesn't make any sense to me.

Although I appreciate sponsors as a form of financing the channel, having just watched Leena's "Lies to unlearn about skincare"-video this sponsor doesn't lie right with me. 🫣 I did love the video though. ♥️

Why though? This is such a minimal Skincare routine which is quite refreshing to see!

Hm, I loved that same video by Leena and use Skin and Me because I'd previous stripped back my whole elaborate skin care routine for exactly the reasons Leena described in her video. Also, her video wasn't anti all skincare- she specifically said there's nothing wrong with using it if it makes you feel good! She also previously mentioned Skin and Me in her video on sponsorship offers she's rejected, but said she has nothing wrong with the company she just doesn't have a need for it because she's happy with her skin as is, so it would be disingenuous to her audience.

Not having a go at you, I know you made this comment in good faith. I get where you’re coming from and you do bring up important points, BUT: It seems really rude and inappropriate to bring up a close friend’s video/opinion in order to criticise a content creator. It would be fair if the sponsor was really unethical like betterhelp, but this is just a fairly unproblematic skincare brand that Hannah clearly likes and uses. That aside, the main reason Leena said she wouldn’t work with them is because she has no use for the product. That has 0 to do with Hannah or the brand itself.
