Episode seventeen. Struggle in Seville, The Most Dramatic Finish in the History of Chess
At the start of the match in Seville, Kasparov and Karpov had played 100 classical games against each other, most of them in the three-year range. In total, Kasparov was a little ahead, but anything could happen over the span of one match.
After 100 meetings with the same opponent (almost in a row!), how do you find the strength for another half marathon of twenty-four games? Is it possible to surprise your opponent when it seems that you have already studied each other inside out?
Episode 17 of "24 Hours with Garry Kasparov" is entirely dedicated to the thrilling match Seville 1987. Ups and downs, mistakes and ingenious finds, and, finally, an incredibly dramatic dénouement - plunge into the atmosphere of a bright duel together with one of the participants!
