Nice work as always Justin! The one thing which shows in all your videos is just how stable Te Rehutai is, across a whole range of conditions. They clearly have some extremely trick control systems, not to mention superb crew skills.

Thanks mate... I totally agree... I remember when they first started going out in these conditions and I thought here we go, this is going to be interesting... But really it just carves through it... Even when it touches down it keeps foiling through... No nose dives... Losing the rudder etc

Anyone who beats this gen boat let alone gen 2 deserves to win is all i can say , they are perfect in all weather and already a step ahead last cup. Good luck

And can you imagine the new boat... it'll be another level again!... although I remember we thought the same thing at the last cup... and then at 3-3 vs Luna Rossa we were all getting a bit worried... so you never know... every team has improved... and the sailors too... most have been involved in sail gp this whole time so the skill and experience with foiling etc just keeps going up and up. I think its hard to gauge the other teams just with the recon footage... I think it makes a big difference being able to watch NZ sail around in my footage and from what a couple of the other guys in Auckland get aswell.. rather than just the onboard recon from the other teams.. maybe its nicer to watch and makes the boat look awesome.... would the others look like that if we saw them with this sort of footage? ...anyway that was a bit of a rant but, yes, its looking amazing for only having been on the water for this short a time... they'll be off to Barcelona soon so will miss them for several months. Cheers!

I see they are just parking the chase boats not surprised in that chop
@stefanschneider3681 Жыл бұрын
There's the chop, but there seems to be some swell too. Not easy to find the balance, as you can see at 1:44! And from what they said in the AC-channel-footage they kind of given up trying to follow them with the chase boats 🤣!
@JustinMitchellTV Жыл бұрын
Yeah it's the swell they're looking for these days... And we only get that here in certain conditions... It definitely adds a new element to sailing them and the timing with tacks and gybes...
@jamesaron1967 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, they had to "cut corners" meaning anticipating their change in direction and cutting across rather than follow them. The chase boats are very powerful but they're going to need something faster if they intended to continue chasing in these kinds of conditions. The team must have been pushing 60kts. They won't admit it but it is pretty obvious these speeds aren't hovering around 50kts as is often reported. No way, it's considerably faster.

Thank you for the update, i wish the flight controls were a little less sensitive, so the crew will have an easier time .___.

Got to keep the sound on for the feeling! Really intense... The one tack I saw looking hairy as. They'll be trying to figure out how the heck to get over the fear! I'd be terrified. Maybe they are human after all.😬😬😬
@JustinMitchellTV Жыл бұрын
I think the timings really important in the swell... for when to turn etc... must be tricky for the flight controller... no time to relax!

@@JustinMitchellTV well that's going to make for very interesting sailing!

You can see how big the swell is at 0.59 when the white sailboat almost disappears

Yep, its quite deceptive until you have something normal in the water as a reference
