Great idea Andrew. I don't think I've ever even signed one of my pieces so far. I think because it would look messy. This would make things look very neat, just a little expensive.

I was looking at going down the branding iron method myself ...good demo cheers

Hi Andy. Thanks for the feedback. I think the only drawback is that the area being branded needs to be exactly flat. I'll be trying it out for real on my next project. Cheers. Andrew

Hi Bram. Glad you like it. It takes a little practice and the wood to be branded needs to be perfectly flat. Other than that, it works! Take care. Cheers. Andrew

Hi Andrew - can I ask do you know the style of Font used? I'm designing my own logo with a view to getting one of the two UK companies to make an iron for me. The Font in the logo is clear on the image you have, and on the wood. Kind Regards

Hi Chris - I've just checked the original design.... The font I used was Verdana (not bold). I hope that helps. Cheers Andrew

I have been looking for a way to mark my work, I will take a look at bolsons thank you for the info. What do you think of your Axminster lathe? I am considering one to replace my record CL4 Michael
@tiddlerfromtad6 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael. The branding iron works really well. Best to test it on a similar piece of wood to gauge how long to hold it on. I replied to your earlier post re my lathe. Cheers Andrew

Hi Andrew, Thanks for sharing. Could you let us have a ball-park figure for the cost of the complete kit?
@tiddlerfromtad7 жыл бұрын
Hi Mac. A little on the expensive side at about £150 for a 30mm dia head and electric iron, but you get what you pay for. Branding iron wattage also depends on the size of the head. Extra heads are about £65 for 30mm dia. There were some quality issues with the head I initially received but they sorted it out very quickly and made another head foc. They appear to be a long established trustworthy company. I hope that helps. Cheers. Andrew

How does this work on hardwood such as oak, ash or maple? Thanks
@tiddlerfromtad7 жыл бұрын
Hi. It works well on lighter hardwoods like ash and sycamore. I've not tried it on oak, but I imagine the definition will be not as good. Eg black on scream is definitely clearer than black on dark brown. Cheers. Andrew
