24 is an American television series produced for the Fox network created by Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran, and starring Kiefer Sutherland as Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU) agent Jack Bauer. Each 24-episode season covers 24 hours in the life of Bauer, using the real time method of narration. Premiering on November 6, 2001, the show spanned 192 episodes over eight seasons, with the series finale broadcast on May 24, 2010.
In addition, a television film, 24: Redemption, was broadcast between seasons six and seven. Fox announced in May 2013 that 24 would return as a 12-episode series titled 24: Live Another Day which aired from May 5 to July 14, 2014. The series begins with him working for the Los Angeles - based Counter anti , in which he is a highly proficient agent with an "ends justify the means" approach, regardless of the perceived morality of some of his actions.
Throughout the series most of the main plot elements unfold like a political thriller. A typical plot has Bauer racing against the clock as he attempts to thwart multiple terrorist plots, including presidential assassination attempts, weapons of mass destruction detonations, bioterrorism, cyber attacks, as well as conspiracies which deal with government and corporate corruption. 24 garnered critical acclaim, winning numerous awards over its eight seasons, including Best Drama Series at the 2003 Golden Globe Awards and Outstanding Drama Series at the 2006 Primetime Emmy Awards. At the conclusion of its eighth season,
24 became the longest-running U.S. espionage-themed television drama ever, surpassing both Mission: Impossible and The Avengers. 24 was nominated for and won several other television awards including the Emmy Awards, Golden Globe Awards, and Screen Actors Guild Awards. It is one of only four TV series (along with NYPD Blue, The West Wing and Breaking Bad) ever to have won the Emmy Award, the Golden Globe and the Satellite Award for Best Drama Series.

I never knew binge watching was a thing until I started doing it with this show. I managed to binge watch a whole season in one sitting, about 17 hours straight. Not something I'm particularly proud of but it's a testament to how addicting and how good the show is.

I think the reason 24 is soo special to me is because it was my first TV Drama, I was between the ages of 10 and 15 when I first saw the 1st season of 24. Then I fell in love with Kiefer Sutherland lol would love to see him grace my TV screen once more as Jack Bauer.

Spec Ops themed shows were a big theme in the 90s. But then 9/11 happened and the themes and images of a strong government and military was weakened and fear and anxiety became part of how we interpreted this specific theme of tv and movies. 24 is a symbolic gesture from Hollywood of that fear and anxiety all from our favorite persevering protagonist Jack Bauer! 😎
