I love how the flower accidentally drops, but he stays in character and makes a thing of it.

I absulotely love the way he goes "Freedom? FREEDOM!?" like, "The audacity, after all ive given them, after how they have been, have they forgotten it all?"

Personally this song is one of my favourites of the musical, because it humanises Hades, but in a way that still makes him intimidating and sympathetic. In a moment of raw desperation and fury he set the best laid plan for Orpheus, a trapped contract that was doomed to fail. in the end as he calms down he realises what he has done, but it has to be done, for he knows how to make Orpheus fail, because he knows himself, he knows the fear of being alone. He knows that they will most likely fail, but he "let them try".

in the original when Orpheus turns around Eurydice says "you're early" and he says "I missed you."

yeah, he's setting the test for Orpheus knowing that he'd have to be better than himself and overcome that and trust her. If he is, they'll be free

Fuck. This may sound petty. But I really wish they weren’t allowed to clap in between any of the songs. It just disrupts the flow of the storyline and the built-up emotional vibe. It just disrupts the believability of the narrative.

Yes, for recording the surrounding sound makes less immersive, but in the stage its the other way around. The point of story is that tragedy of Orpheus repeats itself even now, even in our lives. A living story. I think reacting, live audience is very essential to the narrative. If you see other recordings, you will notice each performance they put a little twist, subtle changes as well. It's not just replay of the same story, its more of history repeating itself, so every story is same but also unique. It is the audience, who has power to break the chain of tragedy in real life, let trust and love prevails when the whole world defies it. Dead, silent audience is kills that part of the lesson, I think.

the audience is as much as part of the experience as the cast or the stage.
