@Alte.Kameraden7 жыл бұрын
Mexican American War as well was skipped, tragically. Being it was the first war the US Army fought with a Professional Army, defeated Mexico which was considered the local military power of North America at the time by European observers. Secondly, Uniforms during the American Civil War changed dramatically from early to late war. Same for WWII, early war and late war uniforms saw a dramatic change so much so POWs from the Philippines didn't even recognize American soldiers because their uniforms were so different when their camps were liberated years later. Over all this video leaves out a shit ton of US Military Uniforms, and sadly leaves huge holes in the evolution of American Military Attire. What bugs me is they use US Airborne uniforms for WWII as well, which wasn't a normal, common issue attire for American soldiers in WWII. Their tunics and pants were much different than normal US Army GIs in WWII. It would be like using German Paratroopers as an example of German uniforms in WWII when they also had a completely unique attire, even more unique than US Paratroopers when compared to the general army.

Captain Cynical Well you're looking for at least two major conflicts in Florida with the Seminoles and the Mexican-American War. In the 1820's, 30's and 40's. Then after the Civil War there were conflicts with the Natives, the Spanish American War, the Philippine Insurrection and conflicts in the Caribbean. You can throw in a naval landing in Mexico and the Punitive Expedition. Lots of things, understandable to miss some. If all the uniforms represented looked right...

Our uniform for the Mexican-American war was in NO WAY NEAR our uniform for the civil war! And Spanish-American war was just the bland uniform of the late 19th century that most overseas armies had (especially Britain) Dull tan or grey tunic and trousers with leggings and the drill sergeant type campaign hat. there were NO helmets in the Spanish-American war too. Do some research. Look up civil war generals and see them in their Mexican war uniforms.....white pants, high collared blue drill coats and high shako hats.

@@snarkymatt585 The Indian wars were talked about plenty in my history class. History classes aren't the same in every single state in the union. The Mexican-American War was very important to our class for example, because I live in Texas. And for your information "the US" was not the aggressor in that war, Americans settling in Texas were. It was not a coordinated effort by the government, it was basically "Well these clowns settled in Texas so now I guess we have to defend them." Aggression by our government happened primarily in the 20th century onwards from WW2, especially thanks to alphabet letter agencies, with no pretense of American citizens or settlers living in the occupied territory. Territorial wars were the standard at that time so I'm not sure why you would hate the U.S. for that. In fact that was a big driving decision for the U.S. not wanting to be allied with any European nation at all until WW2, so we wouldn't get caught up in many of those stupid wars.

***** The Spanish American war was the one that made US a world power. Spain was no small country then it was a supper power. It marked the rise of American has a world power. The Mexican American war was the first war of aggression against another country,(after they defeated the native tribes.) These were big events when they happened. But finding all the uniforms must be a tough enough job has it is.
@johnburt79359 жыл бұрын
***** I thought the point was to show how Army uniforms have changed over time, with the wars named mainly to show when those uniforms were current -- this video skipped over a lot of interesting changes which took place between 1865 and 1917, including many which are either seldom shown or incorrectly shown in war movies. So, speaking as a former Navy Corpsman and the son of an Airman, are there similar videos for the evolving uniforms of the other U.S. services?

It looks like he is just balancing the metal shell of that WWI helmet on his head and that there is no liner or strapping system inside of that steel outer shell to stabilise it. In the movie ‘The Sand Pebbles’, Steve McQueen wears one of those helmets but he wears it properly and, when worn properly, they look really good.

This is disgracefully awful and not even remotely accurate -- not to mention they left out half the wars we were in. Did they do ANY research? Did they even Google what these uniforms should look like? Right off the bat the revolutionary war soldier is wearing a halloween costume, then the War of 1812 soldier is wearing a modern West Point cadet helmet… and it goes on and on. There are so many reenactors/living history guys out there that do nothing but research and recreate this stuff, I bet they could have put a call out online and gotten volunteers to lend their stuff instead of whatever high school theater level costume house they rented this crap from. Put a little effort in guys, show some respect. Our soldiers deserve that much at least.

***** Before the Revolutionary War, the United States, (13 colonies at the time) were colonial possessions of the British Empire. The war was an armed revolution for independence from the empire. The American Civil war was an event where the southern states mounted an armed insurrection against the United States (the "Union") and it's sitting elected president, chiefly regarding the issue of slavery in it's existence in the United States.

Actually they are on here, because the Confederate government decided to conscript civilians. When you are conscripted, you are forced to fight against your will, if you refuse, you would be shot or hanged. Sadly, most of these conscripts were unionists, and had a family to take care of. So they deserve equal recognition, the Confederates who actually volunteered on the other hand, that's a different story.

Helmet was incorrect (missing cover). They weren't using those model H-straps in Korea. The uniforms were also different between the two. -_- in Korea, the M43 was still being used and shit. Besides, you can't just skip an entire war and just merge it with another. Vietnam had probably the second highest impact on American society out of all wars fought by America.
@minsujoo11328 жыл бұрын

@manfredjager83498 жыл бұрын
***** Vietnam also showed us the grim ability of humanity to corrupt and destroy the land around us. It was one of the first wars to be exposed to the public directly, which resulted in some of the most massive protests America has seen (although looking back there were bigger wars that changed american society, this might be one of the most modern). Also my dude, uniform isn't just the clothing, battledress is a uniform, including full fieldgear, and because they obviously weren't showing formal or dress uniforms, the uniforms were wrong.

no i mean the Mexican American war. it was from 1846-1848, and the civil war was from 1861-1865. That's close enough that a change in uniform probably wouldn't have been all together too necessary. The spanish american uniform was also probably too close to WW1 to really need a change; seems like it was more of the union uniform with a stetson hat going by pictures.
