Hi, Andy. Greetings from Lillehammer, Norway. I subscribed to your channel a few months ago, and I like it. Good pictures, good editing, good stories. And most importantly: You stand out from the many channels that are sponsored from the butt up to their ears, and still pretend to be “independent and journalistic”. As a journalist by profession, I got a nose to smell which are and which aren’t. Keep up your good work. Just one comment to your service video: I agree with you that you can save a lot of money by doing service by yourself after the warranty period. On my BMW K1600 it is a no-brainer: It is far too complicated to even think about doing valve clearances or even smaller things by myself. But regardless of how good a mechanic you are, and regardless of how meticulous you are, you are still missing the proof from the dealer in your service book that the job is actually done. I think that is also worth a lot of euros when you are selling the bike or trading it in. As a buyer, the first thing I would check is the number of stampings (correct word?) from a professional workshop in your service book, also after the end of the warranty period, and maybe especially then. And I think that has to be counted into the final calculation of how much you actually save by doing it yourself. And at last, but not least: You support your local dealer. It is important for all of us that they survive! Have a nice summer and a lot of good trips!

Oh Norway...... a country that I remember very fondly and I will definitely go back there many times, I'm a little jealous that you live in such a beautiful country (well, maybe I envy the summer, not necessarily the winter...) ...anyway....Thank you for the kind words. As usual, there are as many opinions as there are people on the Internet, and of course you are very right about servicing at a dealer. I would gladly do service inspections at the dealer throughout the entire period of using the motorcycle, but as you mentioned, I am an independent "youtuber" (I hate this phrase) / content creator, and this means that I have no sponsors and my income from KZbin is minimal. And here we come to the heart of the matter. To create content, whether it's about mechanics or travel, I have to invest my own funds for which I work hard, so I try to save on things that I can do myself. As for entries in the service book, KZbin and my channel are my service book, if you want to check something, watch my video. And when it comes to supporting my dealer, I will only say that every 3-4 years I buy a brand new motorcycle from him and for the next 2 years I service it under warranty, I also buy parts and other accessories from him, so I think that I support him to the best of my abilities sufficiently, at least that's my opinion. Anyway, thanks for this comment, every opinion is important and brings something new to the topic, so I'm glad that I can exchange my opinions with you. Take care.

@@MotoAndy many people look for bikes like multistrada or s1000xr, great bikes as well, but too sporty and less touring in my opinion. Versys with 120 ps, it’s perfect. You were the main reason I bought this beautiful Kawasaki

@@uissniper It's nice to hear when people tell me that I am the reason why they bought the Versys and are happy with it, it's a great feeling and belive me you're not the only one 😀. I've heard about this dealer but I'm not very familiar with it, I buy and service motorcycles from Goedhart Motoren, probably the largest in the Netherlands and in my opinion they are very good technically. Groetjes...

I have the same Kawasaki, but it’s odd that you change spark plugs every 24000 km. The manual says 12000 km
@boordbelsj4 ай бұрын
Two garages talked to do it combined with the airfilter. Because the tank needs to come off. To safe the customer hour rates and they say its experoence to say that the sparkplugs will last longer than the manual says.

Hallo Andy!

Hello, I've been following you since you used the old model of the Versys 1000. I'm in Thailand, and I use the 2015 Versys 1000 myself. It's a great bike. I'm curious, why did you switch to the 2020 Versys 1000 instead of another model? I'm considering switching to the GS1250, but I'm still undecided, especially considering the significant amount of money involved.

Generally speaking, I never keep motorcycles for too long, I haven't had a motorcycle for more than 5 years, the second reason was of course the better suspension in the 3rd generation model, another reason was that the 3rd generation has a so-called ride by wire which gives a much smoother ride, especially when adding and releasing the throttle, Versys 2 gen had problems with this and was a bit jerky on the throttle. Plus, it's always nice to have a new motorcycle. Take care

Hey Andy!!! How are you. Love your videos. I need an advice, I've purchased a 2023 versys 1000 SE but ir making the same as my old tenere, above 179-180 kms per hour it makes speed wobbles, is there any advice to avoid that? Thanks a lot
@MotoAndy7 ай бұрын
My first piece of advice is "slow down, man" 🙂versys it's not a Ducati Panigale, its a touring machine, my second piece of advice will be change the windscreen, remove handguards, remove crashbars if you have and then check of there is any difference, check the tires, etc, etc

Fuel filter should be change every 24000km but dealers usually replace them after a higher mileage, maybe it's because the fuel in Europe is of good quality and the filter doesn't get dirty, I don`t know, that's a question for the dealer. Valves every 42000km.
