2402 Baade's Window

Baade's Window
The year is 2402 and Baade sits at the window of his apartment, the apartment where he has lived his entire life. His great grandson sits next to him, holding his hand in silence.
As the rain starts outside, tears fall from Baade's eyes. He knows his time left is short. He misses things; his younger days, his job flying small cruisers around the stars and visiting outposts, but most of all he misses Angel his wife. Oh how he aches to hold her, to hear her, to see her in the flesh and not in hologram. Although his days are surrounded by family, by joy and by love, he feels so empty without her.
Baade looks at his great grandson and starts to talk of his life...a life that will end tonight.
