240213 GOLD gets wet again!

Our Phil Bolger 'Micro' design called "GOLD" has been out of the water for a couple of weeks, but today it was successfully re-launched back into its element! We used the boat ramp at Dalpura Bay on Macleay Island (in Moreton Bay, Queensland), and a high tide, to re-launch it.

Phil Bolger was a genuine, homegrown American genius. He is the "Mozart" of boat design, that is, he could design a boat on paper and know exactly its sailing characteristics without it even being built. In this age of mass production where everything is now made by Chinese children, its like a revelation for an ordinary person to build something with his own hands. But not a stupid thing like modern art that just hangs on the wall and does nothing, but something that actually interacts, does something in the real world. And then you get to be out in Nature, no ICE engines, no control grid, and you feel your primal humanity coming back. I could go on, but I'm ranting a bit.

If you have micro plans I’d. love to get some measurements from you? Extremely hard to get drawings now? Tragic I think, such clever boats
