I can’t think of another billion dollar industry where there isn’t any structure to the degree CFB is currently. Does the NFL get it right every time? I was never coached to play like they do these days. I see pro DBs making plays that I wouldn't get caught doing or Id get benched. Seriously, are they taught these days to not bother trying to look for the freakin' ball? I've seen so many times the DB has his back to the QB, and if they had had just played the ball, they could have had an interception instead of getting burned for a 40 yard gain. Blows my mind. Just cause a guy is 6'2" and runs a 4.4 40, that doesn't mean he's a legit DB. I seen play by pro DBs that they wouldn't start on a high school team. Wait, you’re ruling out that gambling on the SEC (Billion$), which is a bigger business than the SEC itself has nothing to do with these calls? Josh, feel like mema would have a colloquialism like ‘that dog don’t hunt’ for your take. Feels like Utah’s AD knows it’s starting to stink and I suspect other AD’s do as well. Refs can change games with the most incidental calls. Pretty sure the bots can provide a playbook on when to make those calls. Nothing changes games like 3rd and long.

The Georgia Tennessee Game was very much the same way that it made me so sick
@karrdashen91904 күн бұрын
no it wasn't. college football analysts and fans from teams that aren't even involved are calling out the officials in the OK/Bama game. Tenn fans are the only ones complaining about the loss to UGA. they are NOT the same.
@johnmuse66263 күн бұрын
You are correct. The 12 men on the field was particularly terrible. Especially after they reviewed it and still got it wrong. There is no 3 second rule about the actual substitution. You get 3 seconds to decide to sub, then if it takes until the clock runs out, that's on the offense for subbing late in the clock. Tennessee actually got penalized vs Missouri for delay of game last year when Missouri used the final 14 seconds on the play clock to sub. In the Georgia game the sub started and the official backed off the ball way to early, while the substitution was still ongoing. Georgia would have been facing 4th and long and needing to punt after that play. Instead it's 3rd and short, they get the first and score the go-ahead td.

In 2009, after a series of bogus calls against Arkansas in a game against Florida, the SEC suspended the officiating crew. I had to wonder what would inspire officials to make obviously bad calls. I really don't think it was a matter of incompetence, especially since it was biased in one direction. So, what could it be?

Throwing the flag for a “penalty” that happens at the very beginning of the play, after the touchdown is caught absolutely throws red flags in the air for the refs having action on the game.
@stanleyday72934 күн бұрын
In this case, the official should have thrown his hat to show that he believed the WR was covered up. The penalty flag would be thrown when the ball was touched.

Same crap happened in Auburn this weekend. Hugh Freeze had a major call reversed and ended up changing the whole game. All the horrible officiating and call should have prevented the game between Auburn and A&M from going into overtime. If the game had been called correctly from start the Aggies wouldve won without having to loss in overtime.

2 TD's called back on Bama. Would've been a different game. They were still losing, but still...
@owenpetersen62894 күн бұрын
Other egregious reffing I've seen South Carolina getting absolutely screwed the entire game, especially on their game sealing 100 yard pick 6 called back for a completly legal block on the QB Tulane getting robbed of a win for an "offenseive pass interference" where the defender pressed him on the line and he kept going straight through him for his route- which was in the way of another receiver who caught the game tying TD with a minute left in the game. (Tulane would almost certainly be the G5 team right now if they only had 1 loss) Auburn getting blind refs on an intentional hold in OT where a DB purposefully grabbed the WR to prevent the game winning TD, but a hold or PI was still somehow never called. Then the very next play the refs called offensive PI on a play where the offensive players route didn't even make contact with the DB Then obviously what happened in the Bama game too
@4IdiotsGaming4 күн бұрын
I understand that the penalty was wrongly called, but the narrative that this was rigged since the flag wasn't called until the ball was caught in the end zone is objectively incorrect. Hearing Kirk talk about this for a few minutes straight was frustrating and I don't even have skin in this game. Illegal touching isn't a penalty until the moment an allegedly ineligible receiver touches the ball. I'm waiting for someone to explain to me how a flag for illegal touching can be thrown before a player touches the ball.
@BB-ce5ev4 күн бұрын
The flag is thrown a second before the pass is caught anyway a pulled back replay shows this. Still sus though.
@4IdiotsGaming4 күн бұрын
@@BB-ce5ev yeah, it was an incorrect call, but the flag was thrown at the correct time. You can't throw a flag for illegal touching until an allegedly ineligible player touches or is about to touch the ball
@larryspradling92434 күн бұрын
It is possible that the ref could throw the flag because the pass was thrown AT the ineligible receiver, idk?
@johnmuse66263 күн бұрын
You can throw the flag early because it's a penalty whether he touches it or not. If he doesn't touch it on the play, it's ineligible man downfield. 5 yards but you keep the down. If he touches it, 5 yards, loss of down.

Am I missing something here? I didn't see the game and don't know what the call was, but of the 3 wrs on the right side, the middle one, i think he said that was Williams, is covering the tight end on that side of the line. So its seems like he was actually the one who covered up someone and they just announced it wrong. Also, is that a tackle on the left side? If so, did he report as eligible? If not, then he can't possibly be covered up because there are already 11 guys in the frame. So that would also be an illegal formation. All I can see is a still, so I don't actually know how the play went down. Just trying to figure out what he's talking about.
@BamaBryan244 күн бұрын
In College, ineligible numbers don't have to report. The TE did not go out for a pass. Totally blown call.

A couple of seasons ago against Ole Miss, Tennessee had the game winning touchdown called off because officials made one of the worst calls in the history of the sport. Ole Miss snaps the ball to the QB, their OL doesn't move. Looks to be a trick play attempt as a back sneaks out of the backfield. Tennessee doesn't bite. They rush the QB, strip sack, scoop the ball and score. The officials follow the play, signal touchdown etc. No flags are thrown. No whistle is blown. The officials huddle and talk about it. They rule the play dead, remove the touchdown and give Ole Miss the ball back. They explain that one of them meant to blow the whistle and did not. Even though there was no reason to blow the whistle at all, as the ball was live snapped and there was no penalty. I'd never heard of intent to do something and not doing it from an official as a reason to remove a touchdown. That was why trash ultimately rained down on the field there. It was one of about 10 horrible calls in the game that all favored Ole Miss.
