I just discovered acrylic pouring 2 weeks ago and fell in love with the string pulling effect. Went out and got paint, medium and some canvas. This was incredibly helpful! Not only for how to string pull but I had no idea I could scrape the paint off and start over! I’ve been waiting until it dries and reusing the canvas by re-pouring.Thank you!!

22 years ago, I was teaching my university art class acrylic string art as part of my Color Theory class. As far as I knew, no one else was doing it. I never saw it in the many art magazines or books I had at my disposal. It was just something I experimented with and found it not only made beautiful art, but the students get almost immediate satisfaction. Plus the supplies were inexpensive. Just acrylic or gouache paint, various thicknesses of yarn, a canvas or artist paper if one intended to mat, and weight. Today ( Oct 2018) I see the method is done by many on KZbin and online as "something new". Well relatively new. I should have done what my husband strongly advised. Patented the method.

Really? Art of all kinds should not be patented. There is NOTHING NEW under the sun. It has all been tried somewhere sometime, just tweaked a bit.

We were doing this technique in school art classes in the early seventies..nothing is unique or 'owned' by anyone..art is all about free expression and experimentation..to patent art is the most selfish and unrealistic act ever..

When I was a child in the 60s, we did this technique with cardstock, tempra paint and cord. Different material, similar results. This technique is not new, it is rediscovered with better materials. Beautiful effects, but it isn't new. I guess my elementary school art teacher should have patented it in '64, but I think she learned it from someone, too.

Great video. I love string pulls but the video shows different ways to pull and what happens when it doesn't quite behave the way you think it will. AND it showed a clever way to make a complimentary background to the colors you are using. Never did like a plain white one.

When I was 7-8 years of age I use to do this.my way of doing was little different. I use to take a roll of threads. Soak it in an ink take my school notebook place it in the middle of two whit pages close the notebook and pull out the thread and exact the same patron use to appeared. ....you remind me my childhood after 55 years.

I am so in awe of the way your mind works and then to see the outcome of your minds eyes in the art form is amazing. I love your work . I have been doing art and puting clour to paper for as long as I can remember. I have had a block since the Death of my Oldest son almost 3 years ago . I have spent more hours then I can remember trying to pour out my feelings to the point of crying and walking the flour at all hours of the night and day. YOU AND YOUR ART HAS COME IN LIKE A TRUE FRIEND AND WATCHING YOUR BEAUTIFUL VIDEOS HAS SOMEHOW PLUCKED ME OUT OF THE DARKNESS AND BACK INTO THE WONDERFUL LAND OF THE RAINBOW!!!! I would love to put your ART upon my wall in my work area ...just to hold onto my life line with my eyes witch are the Windows to my very soul.

I did this with 3 yr olds to make the flowers between sheets of paper. It was a fun Project. I suggest you make a slip knot loop at the end of the string. Let it drape over the end of the paper or frame. It Works well, no slipped strings. Try it. I like your work n technique. Thanks.

This is one of the very first KZbin videos that I watched last June, 2019, and because of your video, my second ever acrylic pour painting was three blue flowers on a white background. You make this seem so simple. I truly enjoy watching your techniques. And this blue is my favorite color and is the color of our sectional. I accent with red and yellow dining chairs. I would love to win this picture. God bless you!
