Wow! 8,000EUR for a pretty standard GS is crazy. All these watch companies are getting carried away with pricing and I think a harsh day of reconning is coming for the retail watch industry. Consumers will push back hard. The Radiomir pricing is also crazy.

Not sure about GS pricing. Yes the ever brilliant steel is special, but 2k more for the same watch? Seiko has always priced the ever brilliant steel watches at a premium price. The sla039, $6800. Sla043. $4500. Sla055. $4600 . If it didn't tell you could you tell the difference by sight? Not likely. I will say that the case finishing on these sla Seikos are in a league of their own. Outstanding quality.

But how else will they justify not wanting a Rolex even though what they really want is the Rolex?
@chrishugo7 күн бұрын
If you're going to do a review, get it right. Your comment about "Ever-bright steel" misses its main advantage of having much greater scratch resistance. So, more zaratsu brilliance with much greater finish durability. Those, and the dials, produce a higher price. I do agree that I would pick a different reference at the price. Thanks for showing the Timex S2Ti. Mine will arrive in four days. With 45 watches in my "aggregation," I first looked at pre-owned prices for the S1 and S2 - average of $710 for the $300 S1 and $2,300 for the $1k S2. As the final edition in the series, a purchase is an easier decision than any watch out there under $5k (or maybe any tier - what watch more than doubles in price, pre-owned?) From your comments, again, you didn't do your homework.

I love that all these watches are so expensive because it means I can sell my Chinese shitters for way more than they should be worth. A rising tide lifts all ships. The supposedly "Innovation of the bracelet link" isn't the original innovation of Giorgio Galli. Actually, about a year ago, I bought a diver Titanium watch, "Thorn" (One of Chinese Aliexpress brands) and that had this exact link remover system. I just can not believe that Giorgio Galli ripped off a Chinese brand link idea as his own. Shame on him.
@Sicarius8887 күн бұрын
I have this Thorn. The bracelet system is very nice but I don't think it is their original idea, so he probably ripped someone else. I asked San Martin and Watchdives if they can start making the same bracelets. Said they know it but won't include it because it is patented or something and it might be a problem with customs and intelectual rights control in some countries. They didn't want to say more, but there must be a good reason if people liked it but it didn't become popular and no other ali watch brand or replacement bracelet does this.
@alexsdg34417 күн бұрын
@@Sicarius888 yes. you have a very good point. Just like Rolex Glidelock clasp, there got to be some sort of patent. However, Thorn had that design way more than a year ago and they are still using it. And honestly, I did not hear anything about that link system until Thorn came out with it. Again, it is hard to believe that idea was from Thorn, but on the other hand, there was or is no other company that claimed that idea/patent. So, I must conclude that was from Thorn. Hopefully someone else can chime in and give us some clarity. thanks for your comment.
@Horizontalvertigo7 күн бұрын
That's not really how the industry works when it comes to Chinese manufacture. Whilst nothing is stopping it from being a Chinese design, what the commenter above says chimes with the industry as a whole. Basically, somebody, even a Chinese engineer, designed & patented this system, & it was introduced to the Chinese manufacturers. Thorn either had the technical package or could buy bracelets from the factory that did, & didn't worry too much about the patent issue, either because they had the rights or they didn't think they'd get caught. Timex comes along & probably outright buys the rights to the patent, the Chinese factory makes the things, & Timex puts them on their watch & calls it their own development because they have the rights to the patent. Think Omega calling the Co-Axial their own thing. If it really steams your hams that much you can always start looking up patents, but the likelihood that an AliX manufacturer of sub $400 watches did the R&D for that kind of system entirely on their own initiative isn't super likely to me, Thorn just isn't that kind of innovative outlet. & if you want to say "well Thorn did it first, & Timex followed" I'll point out that most watches have about a 4 year development cycle, so the bracelet on this Galli could've been developed 3 years ago, patented, sent to be test manufactured & tooled up, & then Thorn got access to that tooling & production last year, beating Timex to launch because their turn around is much faster.
@matejsluka26537 күн бұрын
It's possible that it's not a rip-off, the bracelet is made in china anyway and timex probably just opted for this system. Similar situation with IWC and Lange using the same clasp.
@alexsdg34417 күн бұрын
@ excellent point. If so, I guess that Timex will go after Thorn very soon and Thorn won't be using that system anymore. thanks
