Owner perspective: totally comfortable, totally unique, highly recommended. One of my favorites! Yes - you can operate the bezel one-handed.

Omega is my favorite brand. I own a Rolex Sub, a Breitling Superocean, and these Omegas: Seamaster Professional Chronograph, Speedmaster Professional Moon Watch, and a Railmaster. At some point I hope to be able to add the Ploprof or an Ultra Deep. These are completely impractical, but I just love them. In all honesty, if I could only collect one brand, it would absolutely be Omega.

To turn the bezel while wearing, you just press the button with your middle finger while turning the bezel with your thumb and index. I have a couple ploprofs and do it all the time. Thanks for making this review. Hope they come out with more colors.

I'm impressed by your statement that you already own a couple of them. I will certainly get this one next year if my dealer AD can source one for me. Great watches.

Until this video I never really appreciated just how cool, special and desirable this watch could be. All its quirkiness has been actually purposefully inspired. I can’t think of anything else that is like it. Thanks.

A top review Oleg. I've been fascinated by the PloProf for a very long time. Each time I see a review the longing to get one at some point increases but so far it hasn't made me want to pull the trigger (sometimes life gets in the way) but it's getting closer. Like you if I see one in the wild on somebody else's wrist I would happily shake there hand and waffle on about watches for longer than I should. Many thanks for sharing,

Great review. The Ploprof has always been high on my short-list. We're so lucky to live near an OB.... The Vancouver location is one of my favorite watch dealers in the city. I've purchased many Omegas from that location. Special shout-out to Jorge. He makes watch shopping so enjoyable.

Hi Oleg, great review! As a big fan and owner of the 2016 gray Ti Ploprof, I'm super excited about the latest member in the Ploprof family. Btw, did you get a measurement of the weight? I haven't been able to find this information anywhere. 😞

I’m in a debate in choosing the Omega Ploprof white dial on mesh, or the Rolex Explorer II Polar, they both have white dial orange hands, they both came out in 1971 but Omega came out Feb 1971, I don’t know exact date on the Rolex one, but that’ll be the determining factor.

The original 1971 ploprof was the first watch to use 904l steel. Although it was called 'uranus steel', it wasnt proprietary and rolex didn't invent It 14 years later neither. I believe they are titanium now.

Why has it got a HE valve. I thought the whole point of the case design was no helium could even enter the case. Also no hand winding?
@allydea Жыл бұрын
Of course it has hand winding. As for the He valve, well, it's not too obtrusive, is it? And one reason I heard is that a particular diving certification for saturation diving requires the watch to have such a valve, so maybe they did it to comply with those requirements.
@speedypaul2314 Жыл бұрын
@@allydea @allydea no it's not obtrusive but that was the whole point of the case design and what made it very unique from any other deep diver from any other manufacturer. Your right maybe they had to comply even though it is not actually needed. Still seems a bit odd. Handwinding wasn't mentioned in the video when covering the crown and it's use, so a valid question. I think the watch is great regardless.

for $14,300 price tag, I guess it is not for everyone. Also I assume that since it is not for everyone, the ones who ARE really diving into 12,000 feet of ocean (highly unlikely, but you never know, ha ha) Again, this is a luxury pc who can cough up the money without a second thought and love to brag about to his/her (unlikely "her") friends. If you ask me, I can only afford Steeldive Ploprof. By the way, I don't even know how to swim, so 12,000 feet diving is highly unlikely. ha ha. Thanks for this interesting pc and have a wonderful day, Oleg. (war in Ukraine, will ever end?)

Sorry to say, but that sounds like an ignorant comment. I'm not gonna judge though, that's what I also thought when I first saw the Ploprof almost 10 years ago. For the past 6 years however, it's been my favorite watch by far. Hope I can land this new one too.
@speedypaul2314 Жыл бұрын
It ain't no wannabe. Your either a deep water diver or your not. Either way the watch has a job to do and a very important one. I feel its probably a backup from the dive computer and still very, very necessary. It's like a yacht, yes you have sat nav to navigate a course onboard, but by law you must carry and know how to use a sextant... why? Because what do you do when the sat nav goes funky? You go old school without any techno wizardry It may very well easily save your life. Things go wrong. The watch most likely is never used alone but a seriously life saving backup in case things go wrong. I personally wouldn't dive without one.
@allydea Жыл бұрын
@@speedypaul2314 I was gonna say that at 16k euro, this is not going to be used as a backup to the diving comp. However, deep sea divers make a ton of money, so maybe someone with style would actually wear it at work.
@DanteBisset Жыл бұрын
@@allydea, you like the watch and I don't. That's called preference not ignorance. They also didn't have dive computers in the 70's so choices were limited. Since I am not a diver I have no need for such a watch. I do have a friend who is a commercial diver. He wears two computers, one as a back up. He said this is common practice. He did say his friend who is a weekend diver wears a computer and his Rolex.
