While stationed in Germany in the 1970's, telephones were very expensive so we all had CB's in the house and in the cars as a means of communication. I had an SSB in my car and could easily talk to the US East Coast. Had a wall full of QSL cards.

Hey John, now that your back into CB, how about you coming up on the Lower Side Band on channel 23 about 4 pm when you can and just give a call out. The Subs that have that capability can also come and try to communicate with you. Channels 28, 34, 35, 37 seem to be the most used on the Lower Side band in the evening before sunset. 23 kinda in the mid range and 20 is used for tuning as you know. I’m 1.1 on 19 in my bigger truck. That’s a Galaxy 959G model. I don’t have an amp. But when the skip is right 12 watts on the SSB really gets out there. My handle is Space Coast Traveler or 429 in the Sandpile currently sitting for the worse part of the winter in Florida at The Great Outdoors. Got a front coming this way so the SSB should be good soon. If 23 don’t work for you let us know what does.
