The natural scenery of Sri Lanka is really as beautiful as a fairyland, and the higher you climb, the more beautiful the scenery becomes, which is very meaningful! There are Camino de Santiago in the West, but I didn’t expect that there are also pilgrimage route in the East, and the roads are more difficult to walk! After listening to Abi’s explanation, I admired the pedestrians and local vendors even more! And of course, including you, Tim, you are a kind-hearted warrior! The simplicity, warmth and kindness of Sri Lankan people are really impressive, the smile of the lady at the end lit up the whole road! Thank you so much for sharing such a sacred, beautiful day, you are a legend, super great job! 👍😍👏

Hi Tim, this pilgrimage is one of the oldest known traditions in Sri Lanka Buddhists which is older than 2500 years. It is so important that in early days people used to write the inheritance to rightful heirs and do this because their return was not guaranteed as the journey was so treacherous those days, evidently.
@ravanalanka1218 ай бұрын
Aggala is a sweet and peppery delight which consumed more than 2500 years by Sri Lankans specially while they are travelling in Cold climates. The pepper gives a burning sensation and that activates the heating system of the body. That's basically a portable heating machine.

you've tried that too? Lol me too. It was a freaking adventure right there. First it sounds like nothing. But once you climbed 500+ stairs you know the deal haha. The best part was the down hill. When I was coming down it felt someone's pulling me towards the ground. And it took so many hours for me to get down. I was emotional. But now what left is full of happy memories. Now I really wanna go again. But with my stuff I won't be able to visit Sri Lanka soon. But it's definitely in my wish list alongside with Maldives

Actually the other route has about 5000 stairs to climb the Sri Pada [isolated] mountain but this route may contains twice of that. It's a sacred mountain in Sri Lanka famous for Lord Buddha's foot print of Buddhism. And the god who protects the mountain is called God "Saman" [ Saman Deviyo ]. My dad said in the past when people used that path(what u saw),they sold their staff like lands, houses,animals and almost everything because they were truly unsure about their life.(there had no stairs even)Some died on the way while the lucky ones reached the peak and realized their sacred belief in their life.❤ Every religion in Sri lanka has different believes about Adam's peak.We, Buddhists believe that's Lord Buddha's foot print.That's the story of Sri Paadha and that is the beauty of Sri Paadha.(Sri=sacred,paadha=leg)🙏🇱🇰

I learned one of the biggest lessons in my life when climbing that mountain. That is; if we focus on finishing any task, it feels very big and harder to complete, and we feel disappointed. But if we just focus on what we are doing now and keep doing it without thinking of the result or the end, we won't feel much hardness and will be able to do it without realizing that we have already finished it. In here, if we keep thinking about reaching the top of the mountain, we feel it's very hard and disappointing. But if we just focus on only the next step or a few steps ahead, we won't feel that much difficulty, and can reach to the top without even knowing it. And it changed my life. ❤❤

what that guy is saying is ,there is a belief among some buddhists that buddha s foot print was located in 4 places in asia , one is sri padastan (which typically means the place of sacred foot) and there are 3 others in various places, swarnabhoomi (thailand) , yonaka pura and one more some believe yonaka pura means the place where meccah located now and they covered the footprint by a black box , some people think this yonaka pura was located in ghandar pakistan , so it doesnt have a exact place , its just beliefs of some individuals , Im not gonna fact check those

In Sri Lanka, vehicles typically drive on left side of the road, while pedestrians often walk on the right side of the footpath. This arrangement is a legacy of British colonial rule, during which the British introduced left-hand traffic patterns to the island. It helps to maintain order and prevent collisions between pedestrians and vehicles, especially in crowded areas. Because vehicles and pedestrians move in opposite directions, pedestrians can see the vehicles approaching from the front, enabling them to prevent accidents. If both were to move on the same side, pedestrians would be unable to see approaching vehicles as they would come from behind.

We took the shorter route. Set out at 11.30pm, got to top around 8am. Got back to bottom around 5pm 😆 we must have set the record for the longest climb in recent history. It was pouring for the last 3 hours or so. The view was incredible at the top and it was the most amazing view I’d ever seen. A bit like looking from a plane but even better as so detailed. Seeing the sun rise above the clouds was surreal. And hardly anyone there as it was Sri Lankan new years. In the olden days, people used to write their will before setting off as they didn’t know if they will make it back. They used to climb for days as there were hardly any steps and no hand rails. Interesting fact: the shadow of the mountain is seen on the clouds instead of on the ground as it usually would be. Someone who went with us but got up to the top before sunrise videoed it for us to see.
