Neutral is useful. If using an autonomous winch, you can cross water without a snorkel by turning the engine off and winching. But in Neutral it seems to have less engine braking and so it goes faster.

To use neutral properly, also turn off the engine and watch gravity to it's thing. It's great on a nice paved downhill slope, you can catch some massive speed even with big slow trucks, which then immediately translates to a nasty crash at the bottom of the hill, but hey, if you want downhill speed with neutral, perfectly doable.

Another tip similar to the wheelie one Is use the crane as counter balance. I needed to drive along a path that sloped down to the right i had a cargo of steel beams on the back and it was about to tip me down the hill, so i unpacked the cargo lifted it with the crane and moved it over the up hill side, drove past the sketchy part of the road and then re loaded and packed the cargo.

I have 2 tips. 1. Use (low) or (low-)on steep hills for hill decent control. 2. If you are having trouble maintaining traction in Alaska. Drive with one side of your truck in the snow. But be warned it can get you into trouble. Because of ditches, trees etc. Stay safe and healthy.

2. That actually also works IRL. I learned that one from my father. He once got us home when a hill close to our house was completely frozen over, by wiggling the cars left tires on and off the very edge of the low curb, which was not frozen, just snowy. He was my ingenius hero back then. 😲

Another tip - when using a controller and you don’t like the steering you can change the steering input in setting/game/steering mode and switch between controller and steering wheel. -On PC alt+F4 will have you respawn at the last quicksave point once you reopen the game. -The wider the tire the better : Dont dig into mud and have more traction on them. -Mud tires > chained tires if the ice deforms or breaks, as it is coded as mud as well. -If a route looks like its supposed to be driven, it usually isnt or has major obstacles (Rubber trees and massive rocks) -You can carry logs unpacked in the sideboard trailer up to 24 medium stacked 12 over 12 and 12 long logs as 6 over 6: No more 100 trips to deliver 6 log loads. Manual loading required -Ground (mud, road and snow) and objects are different in traction. Even if rocks should have 10/10 bite on offroad tires, they dont as they have next to 0 traction. -Tartarin is a must find scout, it pulls everything easily through the deepestmud and can ace all contests but one (quarry race I think) -Low gear lowers your CG in quite a few trucks -Difflock is a mere suggestion in game, under high load the diff slips either way -unlike spintires and mudrunner, trucks can now be packed too if they are on a bed or trailer -rescue cars are considerably heavier than your owned ones -unpacked loads are significantly lighter than packed ones, unpacked cars are opposite -The winch can be used as a grappling hook/ turning aid -High saddle trailers have a massive ground clearance issue, use only on gentle slopes -Special objective trailers are not dropping their load EVER, you can pull them with the winch once detatched without worry -if you want to know if a trailer is needed for an objective, try the delete trailer option, it wont show on needed trailers

'Swingshot' around trees by snapping on winch as you approach then swing wide and let momentum continue. Bonus points if done on cliff edge on last tree. On PC, bind all gear positions to numpad, 4 Lo 8 Hi 2 rev 5 auto etc. Instantly slap gearsets on the fly, no more fumbling the gearstick. When using different lo gears, diff lock stays on.

I never played the original spintires, but I did put about 100 hours into Mudrunner and I'm not disappointed with Snowrunner (just finished all contracts, excluding logging, about 200 hour into the game). I only have a couple minor complaints. Mudrunner had better mud graphics and physics. The detail of the mud building on the tires and sloshing around was so realistic and awesome. It's still mostly there in Snowrunner, just not as much. Also for a game called Snowrunner, only 1 of the 3 regions has snow. They should have made all 3 regions with snow. Like in Russia and Michigan there should be snow in certain areas at higher elevations, or have at least 1 of the 4 maps in the region be covered in snow.

Tbh i disagree partially bc spintires AND mudrunner had an option to control the winched trucks acceleration on your own, which snowrunner does not, this makes singleplayer games .... Which without chat that snowrunner doesnt have is pretty much always the case, oh right and the fact you cant choose what lobby to join, or the fact you cant just join some lobby then download the mods then ready up, nah you gotta have em beforehand so get ready to download the whole workshop to have some fun experiences and find new trucks. Idiotic game design choice oh and the fact they lock most interesting trucks behind a paywall now.

A very useful little trick I found today is that when you're sick of your truck being sluggish when getting up to reasonable speed, start with high range and when it hits it's top speed switch to auto. This way you don't need to row through the gears and skip to 6 or 7 instead. Useful when you're in a hurry (me all the time)
@NeptuneGT
@NeptuneGT 4 жыл бұрын
One tip is to use clutch LB/L1 is you want to change gears quickly. For example, if you are in automatic gear (4th or 5th gear) and you drive through deep mud, normally the truck will stop and restart in 1st gear, but if you tap clutch button, you gearbox will go to 1st or 2nd gear without stopping, it'll be easier that way. It can work the other way also Not sure if I explain it correctly^^ Nice video again

Cool video! I wanted to add a couple of tips based on my experience and some insights others shared with me: 1. OHD1 tires are much more stable than mud tires; you won't tip or bounce as much with them, they are often mounted as dual tires on the rear axles, and because they aren't as "elastic", they don't collapse under heavy loads. The datamined values for tires may show the mud tires as having better grip, but I never use the balloon tires any more, because the OHD1 works so much better (if you don't have OHD1, use UOD2). 2. The small loading cranes can pick up scout trucks and put them in a trailer/bed for easy transport. If you try to use the small crane for truck rescue, however, it will likely tip its own truck due to the flimsy anchors. 3: If you do equip a spare wheel, pay attention to where the wheel is mounted on the truck. If it's mounted on the underside, it could drag in mud and snow. 4: Navigating fast-moving water (e.g. in Maine) is much easier if you use a truck that's very heavy (KOLOBs, Twinsteer, BOAR, P16). The size will help ensure the wheels reach the bottom, and the weight reduces the effects of the water trying to push the truck. 5: If there's a troublesome spot of breakable ice that needs to be crossed repeatedly, park the CAT 745C or similar vehicle with large tires nearby and use it as a "ferry", just towing whatever comes by across.

Even though I seem to be past most such tips I still watched the full vid because it was so enjoyable :) o wait WHAT trailer shops can fit the corresponding saddle?? Four potentially handy remarks/tips: 1) As in 8:40 I also use that pre-empt winch technique for sharper cornering with trucks like an Azov... 2) When in crane mode --> push right stick (camera btn) to change camera viewpoints to better align the hook/cargo. 3) When you tipped over and your engine is still running AND you have a crane equipped you can use the crane mode to push your truck upright. Handy in cases where there are no winch points near you or when winching trees isn't dragging the truck upright. 4) If the spare wheel upgrade is attached behind the truck cab, like on the taiga, it will take space (just as a crane or a cabin protector) and you'll have to choose.

Great job on these videos! I learned a bit from a few tips I didn't know about. Thanks! Here's a Pro tip for YOU. If you are pulling a particularly long or heavy trailer through some nasty muddy terrain with very few winch points, you can get yourself much further forward using trick. Once you have winched your truck next to the only tree in winch range, manually reattach your winch from the rear of your trailer to the same tree. This will pull your vehicle forward till the truck AND most of the trailer are past the tree and you can hopefully reach a new winch point by then. Give it a try! And keep up the good work!

I've got a tip for you I didn't see in your videos, I consider it cheating a bit. when transporting logs, most trucks become very topheavy and prone to tipping, simply unpack the logs, those three logs arent going anywhere while you drive, and you hardly notice you have cargo, then before delivery simply pack it and unload. Good tips! Keep up the good work

Great tips thanks, I have a tip for you and everyone else. If you just dont care about using lower gears and just automatic. You will notice when you start slowing down in mud your rig will lurch to a stop before shifting to 1st gear. You can eliminate this sudden stop that waste your time and tap the gear shift button L1 if your on xbox and your rig will quickly shift into a lower gear without slowing you down or stopping. This can also help when speeding up as it takes a second to shift up so you can shift faster with the shift button to jump up a gear, sometimes skipping a gear all in all. Such as 2nd to 4th with one tuch. This can help especially going down hill : )

Did not know you could winch to another vehicle and it would drive while you drive. Cool! Tip#26 Even though they don't allude to it anywhere in the game in a tutorial in anyway... Clutch kicking is a thing. 3:08 if you would have tapped the left bumper (while holding down on the gas) while you were stuck on the side of that rock you could have potentially clutch kicked your way up the Rock. It has a similar Force to putting it in high gear. I learned about clutch kicking from watching a streamers gameplay. Do not knock it until you've tried it with a loaded semi approaching mud!!! In some instances if you clutch kick at just the right moment you can keep your loaded vehicle on top of the mud instead of sinking down into it. To stay on top of mud you have to clutch kick right before you see the deep mud start. If the deep mud goes for a long-distance you're not going to be able to clutch kick and stay on top of all of its just to get you over short patches

Another outstanding and funny vid! I knew about half of the tips from experimenting as I play the game but still learnt another bunch of great new things to help me progress. I'm nearly done on Smithville Dam and have not jumped ahead as yet - but some days I feel so daunted that I'm only half way through Michigan I have to play something else that genuinely involves mindless driving (GT7, WRC 10, F1 2021). One thing I noticed is how easy it is to wreck a vehicle by customising it. I gave the CK1500 the high suspension and the biggest tyres I could buy as soon as I levelled up enough and it turned into a tippy, uncontrollable pig of a thing (so a bit like the khan 39 but without the amazing water performance). Switched it back to 31" AT's and stock suspension but kept the roofrack with extra fuel and I still use it as my go to scout even now 20% through the game... it's been absolutely brilliant. Also would you (or anyone else) know what tyres I can use on the Khan 39 that makes it even a little easier to control? That thing is everywhere, all the time, just randomly seems to drive an any old direction on road or off road. I only take out when I absolutely have to get somewhere no other scout will go (I don't have the Hummer or Tuz etc yet) as it's sooooo disgustingly hard to drive!
@ATribeCalledCars
@ATribeCalledCars 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the nice words and comment! The Khan 39 used to be even worse. I think the gearbox helps more than the tyres but it's always unruly. And you're right, some mods (particularly higher suspension) can really make trucks harder to use. The Hummer is similar, but the TUZ 420 is a mud beast! Worth getting for exploration. Just avoid water...

Not sure if this is dead obvious but catching back loads from one map to the other can save time on the missions . You just need to look at the load list of other missions that are to come and what resources are on the map to figure if you will need a load from another area allowing you to have the load ready to go when you need it.

A little tip for speed demons, when using a truck with a bad turning circle like the Dan when you get to the turning winch to a lamp post on the corner and keep driving you will instantly turn 90 dagrees in a second. Done this so many times it's loads of fun making a 50 ton truck turn like a fly

Like the videos, thanks, some things were still new to me. Always nice to see how other people think and do things, as you never know and might pick up some new tricks, haha. I found the neutral gear pretty nice to have on scouts, if you are stuck out in the wupwups and low on fuel or already empty and you have an automated winch, you can just stop the engine, save the fuel (if any left) and pull yourself from tree to tree or whatever lies about. Neutral will make it easier for the winch to pull you through terrain when not using any engine power. Also when you are pulling a damaged vehicle and or tanks are empty on said vehicle, you can put that in neutral and change trucks and pull that along easier. Works probably best with coop mode, I guess. (usually you can refuel from vehicle to vehicle a little, I know)
@billiejojo
@billiejojo 4 жыл бұрын
Tip: use the tether winch technique. Before descending a steep slope attach a winch on a nearby tree and ascend the slope slowly while the winch is attached. This will help you not fall down the slope and damage your truck.

You can actually use the clutch for speed instead of the handbrake. When your driving on 1st get a little initial movement going and tap the button that lets you switch gears and you'll get a huge boost of speed. A lot of the time I will go from 1st to 4th in an instant. You can also use the clutch to get out of auto reverse a little faster

Also Also, I have found a legitimate use for the neutral gear in snowrunner. In my case, I had to push a truck through a narrow canyon because I couldn't get round to the front. Placing the stuck truck in neutral made it easier to push. I imagine the same applies for winching dead trucks.

@11:40...I always use a low saddle and 5 bay trailer, open bed. When faced with a slot heavy mission, I use another red steerable trailer behind attached by winch. Up to 10 slots can be transported using this method. If it’s bad terrain, grab another rig and semi trailer and winch him instead.

One trick I like to use when trying to haul uphill is winching from the back of the trailer. Feels like an abuse of physics but you're essentially using your winch to push your trailer against your truck to help push it up difficult slopes. Just be careful not to over do it and lift your trailer off the ground

A very important trick to use, especially if you're stuck trying to recover an especially big truck (especially with the new difficulty settings in Hard Mode or New Game + making recovery cost money), or you're doing a recovery mission and don't quite have a large enough truck for the job, like the drowned heavy truck im Black River, you can park with a large stump, tree, boulder, or any relatively immovable object between you and your winch target to brace against. This makes even the weedy Autonomous Winch effective at freeing even the biggest superheavy vehicle from the mire.

Another good tip that people don't notice although I'm a noob: sometimes it's better to drive off muddy paths to get across rough surfaces, for example I was in alaska and I tried to drive across a river but I got stuck in the middle and could only winch myself out, where as when I winched back in I noticed I was moving quicker when off path, so I pulled back to get a run up then I drove as fast as I could turned off road slightly then I managed to get across much easier, although later on I upgraded my tyres and diff lock then I got across no issue, so a tip for the noobs really

Just to add to towing another truck. It's great for pulling very heavy loads through mud or up steep hills with lower powered trucks. You always have to be the lead truck towing the one behind and the truck behind drives autonomously. It accelerates, steers, and brakes with you. I'm not sure if it matches the gearbox and AWD/Diff-lock settings between both trucks but it definitely helps you get through areas you wouldn't with just one truck. If both trucks are under powered then have an empty truck up front and loaded truck in the back. If they can handle their own weight then both loaded and you just have more capacity but a lower speed. the front truck will pull the back truck but the back truck can also push the front truck. When I was pulling one of the very large construction trailers with the pacific P16 up a steep hill around a corner in low- gear (the very low gear with off road gearbox) the wheels just stopped. That truck didn't even have enough power even though its amazing. So I got my most powerful other truck and pulled it the rest of the way up the hill. It was the only way i could complete that haul. -You drive slower even on hard ground when towing a truck even though the truck behind is powering itself. -The truck you're towing seems to use less fuel so I'm guessing the truck in front will use more. -I'm not sure if both trucks match the gears and AWD/Diff locks (if you put your truck in low range does it put the rear truck in low as well?) -Its great for pulling heavy loads through mud -It's great for transporting two trucks to another map that doesn't have a garage.

When using trucks such as the Khan 39, notice how the handbrake only locks the rear tires. This is useful when needing to do a tight turn, as the rear axle is locked the wheels will slip on the ground when you turn, allowing you to turn almost at 90 degrees. Works best on even and smooth terrain such as roads and dirt trails

Found that they where top heavy, so I removed all the add-ons (roof rack and trunk parts) that helped slot and I didn't really need them.
