Great review! I would suggest adding: if one is deleting a lot of steps, first *duplicate* the query...just in case. That way, one has a copy of all the query steps. Maybe one deletes more steps than they needed to delete, for instance.

No idea why there isn't more hits on this video, very good practical knowledge to know about power query. I needed to know how to transfer query to a new workbook and you had the solution near the end of the tips. The problem I had though, is the copied query just shows up as an empty table! Why is that.

Thanks man. Very useful information. You may consider unchecking "Allow data preview to download in the background" in the Query Options, under Current Workbook, which in my experience and others is one of the greatest factors speeding up query loads.

Thanks for the great video. I've watched it twice so far and will definitely watch it again. I really liked the section about adding comments in the formula bar. I played around with that and found that if the entire statement is enclosed in parentheses, the comment can be added to the end of the statement and still be retained in the formula bar. See the sample below. = (Csv.Document(File.Contents("C:\WeatherLink 54\download.log"),null,{0, 1, 17},null,1252) /*test */)

Very cool!!!! There is one thing that I don't find anywhere.. how to tell power query to always import the 6 first columns of an excel file? If I format the data as the table it works, but if I don't do that sometimes I will find 5 columns sometimes it will find 6 ...

What is the best way to update the records in the source table/sheet form the Power Query ( like, adding records, deleting a record, editing,.....). Can we make a column properties ( one or more columns) a Hyperlink that be clicking it, a custom data entry form be opened to add, deleted or update the record/s in the source tables?
@HowToExcelBlog3 жыл бұрын
You could use power automate with the Excel selected row trigger.
